  1. Another day, another launch, another inflight anomaly.... Not sure how the lander can survived this, unless it landed on (and destroyed) the docking port...
  2. We'll get that ocean boiled away eventually.
  3. Actually it was @cantab that got house numbers, I only had digits. So I yield to him.
  4. I'm not a chemist, but I can't imagine getting hydrogen out of fat while cooking. What I have personally seen happen is putting soaking wet raw French fries in a pot of hot lard. As the water flashes into vapour it also puts a lot of fine droplets of fat in the air, and once that reaches the burner... Fwooosh!
  5. Beans? I love beans! Especially all ground up and infused into hot water...
  6. The return that can be expected is intangible. Difficult conditions breeds innovation and new techs. Unfortunately, intangible as-yet-to-be-determined tech spinoffs aren't something the bean-counters can count. I first saw this pic on my phone. Now I'm looking at it on my 'puter and can see the people. And it's composite? Sweet jumpin' Jesus!
  7. Had to double-take, no, that did not say "Super Taco" Kind of an odd looking bird, but I guess that huge canopy helps with visibility. I'm not used to the cockpit looking so big compared to the rest of the aircraft.
  8. As I have said before, one of the greatest "Idea Guys" of the last 150 years had many good things to say. My favorite, which applies here, is: “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” ― Thomas A. Edison
  9. Win10 has its own recorder now, although I think it is tied to the XBox app/utility/dashboard/whatchamacallit. That's what i've been using lately, just push win+alt-R. Editing with Windows Live MovieMaker. But I'll have to try Kdenlive, no, wait, that was Linux....
  10. One of these should take care of that for you....
  11. I approve, that would be awesome. Just like in this very-well-done Fanwork Friday feature. It's the little details like that that make this wallpaper-worthy picture so perfect:
  12. Almost three weeks now and still no word about a suspected cause for the 'anomaly.' I can only guess that by now they're sorting through the pieces for the most interesting ones to try to put back together. How's this for a theory: A piece or fitting on the GSE became embrittled after repeated exposure to super-chilled LOX, or embrittled faster than expected.
  13. Verizon is blocked by the ever-lasting busy signal of AOL!
  14. Indeed, any turbo-pump-fed engine will leave some propellants in the tank, since running a turbopump dry will turn into a RUD. There was one Shuttle mission where the main engines shut down due to a signal from the Engine Cutoff Sensor in the ET. It seems there had been a bit of a LH2 leak somewhere. But when you're dealing with kerbals,
