The Falcon 9 explosion happened because a strut in the second stage tank broke, causing a helium tank to rise to the surface of the liquid oxygen and break, causing the tank to explode due to the pressure overload. The first stage obliviously kept going for several seconds. I kind of wrote this simple for some reason. I had to try not to.

@Matuchkin Rule addition: +TREE(3) points if you do this on Kerbol. Also, are we allowed to use hyperedit to go to orbit over we want to land?
