I love you. I missed this mod so much. Back when I played it, I was too inexperienced to actually set up bases in other places. Now that I have enough experience, I can finally step up my game and explore this new universe. AlternisLaythe, here I come! Does this mod add even more lag for those of us with weak CPUs? Also, is there a Delta-V map for this mod? I plan on going to Laythe, but I need to know the Delta-V needed to get there from Kerbin, land on it, get back to orbit, and return to Kerbin...

Some of you may have seen me commenting about getting a new computer for KSP. Sadly, I'll probably only get it around December or January, and while I got a couple games to distract me, I'm really feeling the lust to construct bases and space stations with this game. Unfortunately, with my current computer's measly 1.4 GHz, I get as low as 4 FPS whenever I'm in a simple base like this: (do note however that there is an unseen rocket which is just like the one with solar panels seen here) Is there a way to increase my FPS to something bearable even with my horrible CPU? I don't mean increasing it to 60, years of dealing with awful computers made me used to "low" framerates like 18-30. I'm aware of ActiveTextureManagement, but I tried it and it doesn't seem to make much effect; it's more targeted at RAM improvements than FPS improvement, and RAM is not a problem for now.

Sorry for bumping and oldish thread(which was already necro-posted twice), but Chiken, I think it'd make more sense if Eve was Kerbin's older sister rather than younger. Mostly since, in-game Eve is bigger than Kerbin, and since she'd be the older sister, she'd probably be the one who inherits most of the family's wealth(which typically goes to the oldest child), while Kerbin would probably not want much of it due to being against consumerism.

I feel like cirgumnavigating Laythe. Mostly because I wanted to do the Elcano Challenge around Vall, but driving is too slow. Plus, the Aviator Challenge had my attention for a while, but Kerbin is too big, which will take a lot of time(something I don't have). So why not Laythe? Problems arise, though. For one, I know next to squat about plane fuel efficiency, so I don't know if I should make my plane nice and small to have an easy TWR and not have to haul a lot of weight, or make it as large as possible part count be damned so I have a surplus of fuel. Take in mind that I'll probably want to have the occasional landing around Laythe's several islands for flag-planting and quicksaving, so it may require a little more fuel. So, the question: Does anyone know how much dV I need to cirgumnavigate Laythe? (I hope it is small enough for me to tack in a jet engine for a faster flight without having to increase the plane's size exponentially)

Oh, I experienced that plenty of times. In fact, I just returned to KSP from being burned out on it. I'd say it's better for you to just play other games, as forcing yourself to enjoy KSP will just give you the opposite effect and will feel like a chore. Like Richy said above, you'll eventually come back to the game. Yes... you can't escape... you'll be one of us. Resistance is futile. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Thanks for the help, everyone! I'll post the results of the aerocapture re-attempt once it's done. EDIT: Nope, no dice. Trajectories still gets the predictions wrong. What's really egregious, however, is how, after doing the 20km suggestion above, I thought I was into a safe orbit around Duna, and quicksaved... then realized Trajectories was COMPLETELY wrong and I was actually in an escape trajectory out of Duna(with a small Ike flyby). I got so angry I just HyperEdited my craft into a Duna orbit as revenge against the game. (though I could've used an Ike gravity assist to stay wtihin the Duna system) The only thing keeping me from uninstalling it is because it is still useful for landing. But enough of this, it's quickly becomming a Trajectories-related thread which doesn't belong in this forum.

I have a craft made in 0.90(the souposphere era) which is currently en-route to Duna and is inserted into a prograde aerocapture trajectory, periapsis at 14,400-something. Unfortunately, due to it being made prior to the atmospheric upgrade, its shape is aerobrake-unfriendly, and I found that my aerobraking trajectory failed by a wide margin, the craft instead plummeting into Duna's surface. I'm using the Trajectories mod to determine my aerocapture route, and before plunging into the atmosphere it says it'll sucessfully slow me down enough for the apoapsis to be above Duna's atmosphere but not too far. After doing so, though, it updates to say I'll crash. I am utterly confused... and just when I decided to get back into KSP. The craft in question is a rover meant to transport fuel from storages into crafts which need them, attached to the top of a booster stage which is essentially a Rockomax X32 tank with a Poodle engine. I would upload a screenshot if my internet weren't trying to see if it can be slower than dial-up.

Fan Theory - Kerbals not Native to Kerbin
Commissioner Tadpole replied to oliv897's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Uh, there are some pictures of Kerbals in Kerbin without the suit. -
HDYPOTD: How do you pronounce the -apsis twins?
Commissioner Tadpole replied to Superfluous J's topic in KSP1 Discussion
For apoapsis, I pronounce the "A"s just like the first "A" of "Air", while for periapsis, I pronounce the "Pe" just like the "Pe" of "Pear". I end both with "-sis". Yeezes, man, no need to turn him into meat for only a typo. -
KSP Wasn't Designed For This....
Commissioner Tadpole replied to Jett_Quasar's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I'd like to see if I can flip the Gilly module for you. -
Don't forget Eve. That place is scary but rovers work like a charm there(so long as nothing besides the wheels touch the ground).

KSP Wasn't Designed For This....
Commissioner Tadpole replied to Jett_Quasar's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Wow. Most impressive. And yeah, Eve is laggy as heck, my computer would catch on fire trying to render your base and space stations. -
About Dres and it's Dres-teroids
Commissioner Tadpole replied to WhoLikesCakes's topic in KSP1 Discussion
A ring would make Dres a more interesting destination, yes. -
The Name Change Thread (WARNING! ONE TIME ONLY!)
Commissioner Tadpole replied to Souper's topic in Kerbal Network
I have a similar issue with Laythe Dweller. 'Minmus' kind of became my nickname, but I can't change it because there's already someone called Minmus. At least it's better than Laythe, though -- Minmus' last activity was at March 2014 and made 5 posts. Ah well, I can still live with my current username. -
Say Hello to the White Bar Group!
Commissioner Tadpole replied to Mad Rocket Scientist's topic in Kerbal Network
Ah, so that's why there are people going around with only one white rep. point. I thought it was some sort of "platinum reputation bar" that you got when you maxed out even the light green bar. -
Aaaaah. That explains it.

Don't forget calling them Kernels. I don't even know why that's a thing. But yeah, I agree with you. And there's also how people tend to abbreviate 0.90 to 0.9, referring to that one Alpha build...
