TT NeverUnload - Vessel Unloading Preventer
horndgmium replied to TouhouTorpedo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Well that explains a lot. My bad. But that still goes to show that tons of authors have yet to support curse -
Here's mine: Human beings, a singular species of the billions populating our beloved planet, and one of the potentially infinite different species of the entire universe, are the only ones as we know it to experience time. The concept of time is an entirely human creation and experience. There isn't a single other species on the entire Earth that thinks about time or is influenced by time, especially on the scale that we have created to measure it. And it's important, too; it is more important than just day and night. We can think of time on a long-term scale of millenia, or a single life, or a single second. Humans are constantly bound by timeframes and deadlines, which kind of sucks, but hey - as the smartest organism that we know exists, our existence extends beyond simply eat, sleep, die. I'm not hating on time or how we use it, just how uniquely human time really is.

Added; you have the best username on this website.

Hey I'm interested and all, but a few suggestions: 1. Set a time that you will regularly give a new clue. 2. Try to prevent confusion like the previous comment, by being as specific as possible with everything 3. Try to garner some interest before starting (get at least like 5 interested people and then start, otherwise it'll be hard for this to take off) 4. Is this using the game timer or your own timer? I think it would work best if you give the clues at a common time, and the order in which we post our pictures is the order of finishing. 5. I have about 6 gamedata folders on my computer with all different ods technically already installed, so you're going to have to weed out the mods you don't want used. 6. Potentially have the person who came in first with the last clue get to create the next clue. That way you can participate as well. 7. Might want to rule out reusing screenshots, because, for example, even I already have a screen shot of the sunset from Kerbin orbit, and I don't take a lot of screenshots.
-
This can start whenever the gamedata folder is good to go. I've updated the post with the new teams, let me know if I've left anyone out. I won't be able to host a server due to my terrible Internet, but if someone creates one then all can play on it. What time zone works best for everone? Like I said, I'm in GMT-8 but I don't really matter since I can't play :/ Addition: I've been playing around with mce and 2 million credits is pretty low to start, so I seriously recommend setting up bases (flags) or other ways to get a higher budget, right off the bat.

The Ãœber Meta Forum Challenge
horndgmium replied to horndgmium's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Wow, those would be some crazy high scores for sure. I just looked at sal's page and he would break 10,000 points on replies and posts per day alone! Also guys, a couple of award names were changed too. I updated the leaderboard but if I forgot anyone let me know. -
The Ãœber Meta Forum Challenge
horndgmium replied to horndgmium's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Haha, Regex I gave you the 200 anyway. And updated the op so now that last one isn't so dubious! But having 9804 points might still be saddening because you get a new award at 10k . @Red Iron Crown: challenges without skill are definitely the best ha they're so fast but you still get to win! Updated OP. New: Meta Olympian award, and other awards were slightly tweaked to minimize uncertainty. -

Yes, sorry-for-being-a-****-but duh, that's the reason I'm making the whole argument. I'll update the tense so other minds can follow my train of thought. -
TT NeverUnload - Vessel Unloading Preventer
horndgmium replied to TouhouTorpedo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Not a single time have I clicked on a link to a mod on Curse and been directed straight to the mod page. Always to the Kerbal page. At which point I learn that not even a significant portion of mods claimed to be on the website are actually even on it. Most important of all, though, is the fact that many unmaintained mods will cease to exist if spaceport does - meaning a large amount of meticulously created content will be deleted. As TT says, this is simply unacceptable. Spaceport should have simply been maintained better, and was probably due for an update or two as well. -

Well i think that your tutorial is more of that than a thread for your crafts... either way its up to you. Plus, you can rename the Nice Guy if you want? Haha, that's good though, maybe 'ADD-inducing poster'. But whats a good way to make a quantitative length requirement? -
Zackomax Multi-Purpose Modular Command Module (MPMCM)
horndgmium replied to SessoSaidSo's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
So by modular, what do you mean? Do you plan on creating internal nodes and specific parts (containers, tanks, etc.) that go in them? Either way, looking good on blender especially for a first timer. Keep it up! -

Updated OP with some new regulations and a few new awards. Anyone have some good ideas for awards? -
I think it would be nice to be able to redo experiments at night on whatever celestial body and get different results than during the day. Biomes change drastically from day to night, especially those without atmospheres.

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
horndgmium replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Well like I said, sometimes it happens at 3g even. It pulled the command pod right off the fuel tank, which is kinda ridiculous. I don't have a solution, just throwing out some alternative, that is all. Yes, aluminum's response to stress is to rip, which is an outrageous suggestion due to the amount of work required to make that happen, especially visually, in KSP. But I do like the idea of flutter. Edit: I forgot to mention, it happens when re-entering as well, which makes it especially hard to pitch up when doing so.- 14,073 replies

The Ãœber Meta Forum Challenge
horndgmium replied to horndgmium's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Updated OP! Ha Xeldrak, Greenhorn is only for people who started playing ksp in .23 or .235, so unfortunately you don't get that or well-seasoned. It's kind of an effort to keep people from getting way too many awards. Also, I think the point system is working out okay! @5thHorseman: haha I don't know! Mad props? -

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
horndgmium replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hey, so I've got a bone to pick with the newest far. First of all, my planes have been falling apart at about 7g and we're fine before. That wouldn't annoy me so much, however, if we had intended to fly our planes Asa conglomeration of pieces. While you may make the argument that I'm putting too many g forces on my planes and that parts should fall apart, I think that's the wrong way to look at ksp crafts. The planes I build are intended to be one flying thing, not a bunch of parts strewn together. So I must ask if 1. Aerodynamic stress 9 toned down in the future and 2. If aerodynamic stress would cause parts like aerofoils to malfunction, rather than say, make the wings fall off, because I'm sure you realize which is the more likely of the two irl. Just some thoughts.- 14,073 replies

Well I don't think forward operating bases need to actually have buildings, they just need a flag in a location. Skype would probably be good if people need a way to team chat covertly. Also, I'm thinking that since there will be only 2 of many home bases used, when the game goes live both teams can have a scramble to acquire as many of the bases (alternate KSCs) as possible. So there first team to get a flag there starts getting credits for those forward bases. These are of course not home bases, so they may change hands. Teams can still make bases wherever though by placing a flag.

Sounds good to me, removing it from the list.

This challenge is to see who the Kerballers are among us.I know there are some superstars, but I want to see who is the most Kerbal among all the Kerbal-kind! The challenge is pretty self-explanatory. Most of the things you can get points for can be found on your profile page in any of the subsections, specifically, about me. Much of the relevant information can be found on the left side of your profile page as well. If you have gained an award, it will be listed alongside your name on the leaderboard. Rules 1. You may submit a score for only yourself and no other forum member. 2. If you enact behavior intended to raise your score rather than contribute to forum content, you will be removed and/or banned from the leaderboard. 3. Because scores will likely increase the longer you have an account, you may resubmit your score twice per month for as long as you have an account. 4. If at any time you gain a new award, reply, and it will be added next to your name on the leaderboard. 5. When saying you achieved an award, I'd like for you to post a link to the content that has gained you the award, but this is not necessary (it's just nice to see your awesome content!). 6. Have fun! Points +20 points for having an account +10 points for taking part in this challenge +25 points for having an image for your account, double points for a .gif +200 points for each full year you have been a member. +50 points for each friend you have on the forum +25 points for each blog entry +1 point for each forum post you have made +your number of posts per day multiplied by 100 +25 points for each article you have posted +20 for each thread you start that gets at least two replies +5 points for each point of reputation you have accumulated +0.5 points for each visit to your page Awards Greenhorn - Started playing KSP .23 or later. You are the best! I do mean the whole mod, not just the weapons. I think if you upload the gamedata folder to dropbox or something then I can put a link for it in the original post. Also, I don't know the mod that well, are they op? If lazor is overpowered compared to skillful weapons mod then it would probably be better to do without it.

I definitely like that idea Marcus. For now i think if people don't want to actively participate, they can post their designs on this page for a cost in credits, and the team that bids the highest for it can buy it from the third party. Third part bases could be distinguished by flags just like red and blue bases, and then some description of their purpose (ex. black market vendor or half off refueling station) I think if there are third party bases like vendors, those people could add their craft and put them at the base, and the other team could come bring a pilot and pick up their craft/crafts that they bought. Third party bases would then I think be neutral by default... unless one team unbeknownst to the other "buys" its loyalty, in which case they work exclusively for the one team. That would make for some good surprise attacks! if one team comes to pick up a craft and there are enemy team pilots in the crafts that they are coming to pick up which then attack them unsuspectingly... . I think having them initially only neutral is for the best though, and while neutral they are immune to attacks, and teams may not fight withing viewing distance of the flag. BUT, it's definitely TBD.
