I mean if I were to try to make a server for other people to play on while I wasn't online, would that work?
-
Well, I had envisioned keeping the server live 24/7 if that's possible. That way people can be connected and crating craft and launching them as they please so long as its within budget. Got any ideas? I'd like for everyone to agree on the rules not just have them be my rules.

So I'm having some serious trouble with my wifi, most notably my 5 kb/s upload rate. So if someone else wants to throw together a gamedata folder, I would very much appreciate it. Also, I intended to add FAR and Firespitter, that's my bad, I just hadn't gotten around to updating the OP (also thanks to terrible internet access).
-
I've been doing some browsing about what people think should be part of .24 or not. There are so many things that I want to be part of it, but also many that I don't. And then of course, I'm not sure if the devs are going to notice the things that we say we want or maybe put in things we don't. Every time I start getting anxious for updates, I realize that each one so far has blown me away with new features that some genius in Mexico thought of that many of us couldn't even fathom before hand. So while I'm pretty in the dark about the features, I know, like every update thus far, that it's going to be amazing. But that being said, does anyone actually even know any specifics?

If your space program was a song, what would it be?

Did you download the B9 fixes? That's the save that I have and it seems to work pretty well. I added you, and I hope you don't mind having B9 and mechjeb! But perhaps to nerf mechjeb it may only be used in the VAB or SPH? I've got a 1/10 scale RSS looking real good with the mods, it runs fine on my tiny laptop with graphics set to 100% for all categories, so weven if your computer sucks it will be able to play this save. However, I have not yet added firespitter or KW rocketry, but parts can be trimmed down on those so they probably won't add too much invasiveness

So can I make a server without using my ip address? because if I do that means I'd always have to be online for the server to work right?
-
Well what I think I was going to do was take RSS (I think it would be more interesting to play on Earth) and use the configs for Kerbin-size RSS. That way It will still be small, and getting to orbit won't suck. FAR is a must, B9 is a must (and I was looking at D12. Since the textures are recycles I think that would be okay too), p-wings are glitchy quite often so maybe not those even though I love them so much. DMP seems to be a pretty resounding request, so I apologize to anyone who has spoken out against it but I think we will be using it. I'm throwing together a gamedata folder now so everyone hold tight for about 30-60 minutes while I battle an incredibly slow internet connection. Draemora I've got you added as well! Also guys, I'll add Firespitter, but I think I'm going to delete biplane parts since this is a space age game after all.

Well I only posted this a day or two ago so still gaining interest and participants haha. I think it's fairly non - invasive. But we'll figure out a standard time that's good for anyone, but tbh it's not really that important because that's only for resource allocation. I'd hope your team would leave you plenty if you can't get to it right away. I've never tried that mod though, does it not work with the last update?
-
What I'll do tomorrow is make a common game data folder for everyone to download. That way there is absolutely zero discrepancy so the multiplayer server should work fine. I'll try to make a server as well if I can figure it out tomorrow. I'll try to get everyone into decent agreement on what mods should be in the common game data folder. If anyone really disagrees with one of the choices, I'll get rid of it or replace it, so speak up tomorrow when I post it. All good?
-
Nope, anything I'm orbit is fair game, only atmospheric Bombers are nerfed. Although, dre may add some good complexity to orbital strikes... Xoknight I've got you on red! I think that in a very near future of DMP mods will be okay. The mod list will certainly be refined though. And It'snotrocketscience that's definitely a good idea! Shall I put you on a team? Nicholander, I'm thinking DMP will work better too, just need to make sure it works with mods. That way people can play as much as they want and simply mess around with crafts when they run out of building budget. Oh by the way KotDemopan, you want in?

I'm liking the way the intakes are mounted on the tail sections! That thing looks pretty good, but the wings could maybe use some work (narrowing?) to make it look like a supersonic fighter.

Added you to Blue! Updated the OP with very new info, it's worth a read for everyone who's interested already. It's now going to use dark multiplayer, so that way the amount of people is somewhat less limited. If anyone dislikes any of the characteristics, or thinks of something I left out, let me know please! I suppose time zones are difficult - I am in Kodiak, AK myself so I'm 4 hours behind EST. As long as we all compare to EST it should be okay. EDIT: Actually, I'm wrong. Spartwo, after I looked at your thread I think this does belong there. Second edit: also after looking at it, I'm starting to think that turn-based would be better than multiplayer. Opinions?
-
Can multiplayer work well with RSS, weapons? It seems that would weed out some computers, but I've never used multiplayer so I don't know what it's like. I'll get it now and if it works well on my dinky little Vaio laptop then I'll add it to req'd list. Then we could play real time or semi-turn based rather than full on wait-for-the-other-team-to-send-you-the-persistent-file turn based.
-
Ah damn, I'm sorry. I'll put you on Red for now!
-
I like the looks very much, but having a large non-spherical garden part might 1. be very complicated to launch and 2. doesn't make very much sense to not have glass on all sides, since there is no down in space. Just some thoughts! Keep it up my friend.
-
Absolutely! And I think we'll get started as soon as we get at least like 3 people per team. That leaves room for someone to be a craft designer, a base planner, and a pilot, but I'm sure everyone will want to pilot craft.
-
Anyone interested? I'll update op with names and such.
-
I'm thinking that's just part of strategy. I, for one, would want to make forward operating bases. But capturing those bases needs to be nerfed somehow maybe? And I modified the rules with your suggestions, if people don't want to reload their bomber on the tarmac you can recover it and launch another for 50% return of the cost, just like any other craft.
-
Well the team would have the whole week to fly it so I think it would be possible to get back to a friendly base. I think having bombers carry only one bomb at a time would be a good idea. Plus people would probably struggle to resupply a bomber with a new bomb (although possible and recommended due to budget constraints!
-
Well, either everything could be manned, or it could be mandatory for probes to return home. If not, probes are fair game for the opposing team to control (and they must return them to their own base if they do so).
-
Yeah I agree - either that or we could just restrict it to craft with limited ammo. haha yup! Great for sending extra pilots!
-
Yeah it's turn-based so everything needs to land that's not going to be on rails. They will be vulnerable but I mean without active multiplayer, air combat is impossible :/ . Destruction of ships is anything that makes it unable to either fight or move or both. Capturing ships can be done by taking along a pilot and putting it in the vessel you wish to capture and flying it back to your own base. IF it doesn't make it back to a friendly base, it is not yours. Furthermore, if you use it in the future, it must always return to a friendly base in order to differentiate it since it will be the wrong colors. I guess no cap on players if people are interested! It'll just be harder for them to coordinate in a week's time. Ha, Kessler syndrome would be hilarious. And teams can launch as many craft as they want as long as it is within budget for the week. Can anyone think of a good way to do points for damage and not destruction?
-
Haha whoops. I couldn't remember which was the newer one, thanks! But to be honest I have no idea how to change the text in a poll hah
