Just go into the settings.cfg, and right by the conics mode setting (either above or below, not sure) you can set how many conics to draw. Like RC1062 said, I have 3 right now.

[GAME!] Describe the person above you in one sentence

Someone who is late. -
Title should be self explanatory. I did this in order to make sure everyone could get a nice visual representation of what happens with each mode. I\'ve used a Mun free return as the maneuver to use to demonstrate each type. Mode 0 (Relative to each body\'s current position). Here, the Mun\'s orbit looks all kinds of messed up. It\'s not, though. As the Mun moves through its orbit as time progresses, this projected orbit will become closer and closer to our Kerbin escape and re-encounter. Mode 1, the default (Draws orbits relative to their position at SOI entry). Here, the exit point looks severed from the ship\'s path due to the entry point being the point of reference now. When we get into the orbit of the Mun, the exit point will obviously make its way over to the correct point. Mode 2 (draws orbits relative to their position at SOI exit). This one is a bit weird to look at at first, but it gets clearer as you think about it. Here, the Mun orbit is where it will be when I leave the SOI to go back to Kerbin. This causes the entry point to seemingly be disconnected, but it\'s not. Here is mode 3 (draws relative to the body you are orbiting). As you can see, it looks like you would expect: No sudden breaks or turns in the lines. I find this to be a very useful tool for maneuvers such as the free-return. And finally, here is mode 4 (Lerped mode). It\'s... odd. I think that, as my ship closes in on the SOI switch, these orbits will move and match up more. But when you\'re first doing your burn, it\'s a bit confusing.

Awesome. Now we just need that Space Engine one to be finished.

May I post a KSP youtube Video? May I monitize it?
Rascal Nag replied to DrBurst's topic in KSP1 Discussion
For normal videos, I believe Harvester said it was not only allowed, but encouraged. But for monetizing it, I think it would be best to have permission. A little mantra that I think is good to recognize here: It\'s all fun and games until money is involved - then it\'s a lawsuit. Of course, I doubt it would end up in such a serious state. But still, in matters of money I think it\'s best to err on the side of caution. -
You know, I kind of want to make a slingshot from Minmus to the Mun. Would be an interesting maneuver. Might not be useful, but interesting.

I don\'t think this is crazy. In fact, this is honestly one of the best challenges I\'ve seen. Should certainly be possible. I actually tried to help out a bit: GPS satellites are about 22000 km up. The ratio of this to the average distance between Earth and the Moon is .0573. Multiply this by 11400km (distance from Kerbin to the Mun), and you get 653.22 km. Maybe that could be the height to achieve for our GPS satellites? Edit: Wait. I just saw it was only to be done in one launch. Now THAT is difficult.

Not really, I\'ve already done it this way by using structural pylons to separate the fuels: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=12730.0

That\'s just too good.

After the first failure in the SSTO program, the immediate reaction was to add either more fuel or more power. Both failed - such a response resulted in the deaths of at least [REDACTED] Kerbonauts due to the unbalanced nature of large, bulky craft. So, in what at first seemed foolish, we downsized - and made Exojet. Which, despite making it into orbit with fuel left, was declared too hard to control. And in came Exojet II. And it worked: Just after take off: Turbojets are nearing their maximum height: Aerospike: Go! A steep climb is recommended for the early stages of the flight: After raising the Apoapsis and burning there, we have orbit! A landing shot would have been provided, but after making several crash landings with Exojet I only due to my misjudgment of where to re-enter, I am confident that the upgraded Exojet II is more than capable of getting home safely. Another feature of Exojet II is the separation of jet fuel and rocket fuel. Though there is no difference yet and they can be interchanged, this will not be done here due to the impending change to this. Exojet II was built with the future in mind. Finally, you may have to wait until you hit the runway\'s end to start flying, but you probably won\'t. But if you do, Exojet II is quite stable, and as long as you\'re not excessive, a little hard pitching after the runway won\'t do any harm. Oh, I just happened to discover this: Try to refrain from really quick rolls. You could cause the jets to fly right off.

I feel that Minmus was formerly a part of another planet in the outer reaches of the star system. This planet had its own trojan asteroids, one of which was large enough to be classified as a dwarf planet. This dwarf planet worked its way out of its lagrangian point and collided with the larger planet, ejecting debris which escaped the planet\'s influence. Now in a new orbit of Kerbol, the pieces coalesced to form what we know as Minmus. Then, while crossing the path of Kerbin, it was captured. Alternatively, Minmus was a moon of a gas giant in the outer system. A wandering planet came a bit too close to the gas giant and the one moon, and flung Minmus towards the gas giant. The velocity gained by this interaction flung the moon out of the gas giant\'s reach. Eventually, it found its way to Kerbin.

Did the Free Return. It actually is harder than one might think, since the system only shows your next orbit, not the following two, by default (which I am using.) I\'ll link some pictures in a second. Edit: Here they are On the pad: Liftoff! Stage 1 separation: Stage 2 burn: Stage 2 separation: In orbit, with correct inclination after stage 3 burn and some of stage 4: Heading to Minmus! The orbits got a bit weird here... no idea why. I thought for a second I was going to be thrown back to Kerbin, thenthe Mun, and maybe, if I\'m lucky, back to Kerbin. But no. Closing in: It worked! Coming home now: In the atmosphere... Parachute out! Chute is open, slowing down now... Slpashdown! The upside down tricoupler is not modded, I simply rotated it with the new ability to do so.

Actually, forget mountains. I\'m gonna try a Free return from Minmus.
-
Then I suppose I\'ll have to go land on the highest mountain now. I\'m pretty sure I saw it at one point, hard to miss.

Well, the rocket kept on titling over because the engine barely had enough power to lift the stack, if that\'s what you mean. This was just a proof of concept anyway, I\'ll almost certainly use it in a more useful design when I need to.
-
Yup. But now purists like me can use it.
-
Well, it can do this. I can\'t make it so that the bottom bit is any shorter, unfortunately. But the general structure will allow us to transition back from the tricoupler to any other symmetry, something previously impossible. Could be useful. The fuel lines are there because the tricoupler doesn\'t let fuel flow in this manner.

Too bad I have to work on a presentation for English class tonight... But tomorrow afternoon, I know what I\'ll be doing.

I\'ve been thinking of downloading that, except from reading the site\'s forums it seems it has a few glaring bugs that need to be worked out. I\'ve been waiting to try it out.
-
So, anyone else watching them? If so, who are you rooting for? 76ers here.

Never opened up a facebook account, save for a junk one to get a beta key for Tribes: Ascend, which I subsequently deleted. I don\'t see the appeal. I may be a bit biased though, I am admittedly pretty introverted. If I used it, it would likely end up in a situation not unlike my cellphone\'s, which has probably been out of charge for much longer than it has been in use.

Yeah, I often post my stuff here for suggestions and opinions since it\'s space related. Yes, Doctor, I\'ve seen both series, and they\'re amazing. In fact, they\'re why I tried to make that type of video in Space Engine. That was some lag on my part. I did some cutting that removed some of it, but to get all of it would have just been really tedious. I got it from those links on the site a while ago, I\'m not sure what the problem would be there, sorry.

I\'ve seen some of nanosuitninja\'s stuff before, it\'s awesome. I\'d love to donate, but I don\'t actually have any money...
