Yes. I now have some more mental rules for my time on the forums! 'Tis very positive and helpful. Do you mind if I put the link in my sig? -
KSP 1.0 General Thread + All the new features
TheGamingNoobster replied to Daze's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I must agree! Recently I have taken up the task (If I would call it that. It is quite fun) of helping some of my friends understand KSP. Getting into orbit was hard for them. They haven't been to the mun. Not that I would expect them to! I had to learn to play by myself and I played off an on. It took me over a year from first playing to docking a craft (although I first played before docking was added). KSP doesn't have a learning curve, it has a learning wall! Sure I would like larger planets, life support and so on but if I want that there is TAC LS and Realism Overhaul. Let us keep KSP playable for the majority of us. -
A new Craft label "Equipment"

YES!!! SPACEPLANE!!! It would be very nice I must say. -
Kerbal Engines to Real Life Engines
TheGamingNoobster replied to TheGamingNoobster's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Don't forget that the jet engines in KSP have such a high ISP due to the fact that IntakeAir has no mass. In an actual jet engine, air has mass. The high ISP is very high but the only thing being pushed out of them in KSP is some 'liquid fuel' that is leaving at about 12km/s -
This is just a small thing I noticed. The Shuttle SRB's (The SLS SRB's) are over 20x more powerful than their Kerbal counterpart. That is a very unkerbal thing for kerbal to do! Yeah, it already provides enough thrust as is but... Thrust. The engines exerts about 13,800kN of thrust. Am I the only one wondering about 1: Why the SRB is so powerful and 2: why Kerbals have such a puny version (A 1/10 thrust ratio would be better not 1/21) Any biters?

The Calculator Project!
TheGamingNoobster replied to BagelRabbit's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
New, stock game made? Check! A tired brain fresh from exam block? Check! Active Texture Management for helping render large Kalculators? Check! An actual working Kalculator? No? Well, what are we waiting for!? Is binary acceptable? And does resettable mean it can be used without adding anything else? I mean, can I add back up stayputniks or whatever? -
I remember Principia HAD a download link but not anymore. I played with it a bit. At the time it lacked patched conics. That meant that my orbits just changed ! On your final point with the 'invisible planets', it wouldn't work. Full stop. This is due to many reasons. The main problem is the way that KSP (and most/all games use gravity). In real life, everything with mass has its own gravity (Yes, you too! On a different topic i decided to calculate my escape velocity once. Spoiler alert, it is really small!). Due to this, if you reached the centre of the Earth, managed to hollow a large amount of space out and the heat didn't bother you at all, you would be effectively weightless due to the fact that all of Earth was pulling on you evenly. You would be floating! In games though there is a set spot of the centre of gravity. Since gravity decays at a rate like light (if you double your distance from something, the gravity affects you 1/2^2 as much as before. If you get three times further away it is only 1/3^2 of the strength. I think ), When you get closer and closer to this 'invisible planet Lagrangian point' the gravity gets stronger and stronger. Eventually, if you pass directly through is you would accelerate to ridiculous speeds. Additionally, Lagrangian points are just points where the gravity is in equilibrium. Additionally, on the Kerbal side of things, imagine the Lagrangian points of the Joolian System . Now, I am definitely no expert on this! I am just a high school physics student who hasn't been taught this but had to find and self teach my understanding of astrophysics etc. and I therefore would be wrong in many parts. I would appreciate people telling me if I have anything wrong and telling me what is right instead ! Now, onto my Munar mission whilst listening to 80's music!

Adam Jensen is captured and is held within a dungeon. After months of gruelling torture and mind tricks he is now brainwashed. My way is now his way. I order my new man slave to go after the next poster with a Nokia.

"Very nice", Boris Johnson. I think I may agree with him. -
[1.1.2][1-1-2] May 13-2016 EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements
TheGamingNoobster replied to rbray89's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I found a slight problem. There appeared to a problem that lead to clouds dominating the majority of Kerbin's night. Not only that but they were illuminated. Fortunately I have an album! The problem has only been replicated once. Not once since then though (few days ago). -
I'll get to it the far bit.

You... Me... Laythe... Now...

It removed Politics.worm for me. Now I am stuck with Anarchy.worm. Now I get no funding! Everything is worse! I thought nothing happened before but... somehow it is worse! It often leaves after about 1-2 years though but funding and priority for space events have been reset and even set back by several years. GAH!

Whenever I play HSP I am always getting one under funded contract : Locate life. They want me to find life but they give me just a few million credits... I mean dollars. The rep I get though from landing robots on another planet though...
-
I use the 'tree fiddy bucks' to get a small model plane. Remotely controlled of course! After realising that I have some money leftover I decide to buy a small solid fuel rocket and attach it to the plane. Oddly enough, KSP works differently to reality and I end up with debris everywhere and a visit from the local authorities. I am no longer allowed in hobby stores. Next poster gets $500 Australian Dollars which is about $385.83 US (man our economy is worse than I thought...) or 256.59 pounds ($1 Aus = 0.51 pounds? wow...)

After realising that I have a lot of Mountain Dew I decide to send it to deep space. The dew creates nuclear fusion out of its sheer gravitational strength. An entire solar system is formed out of the dew. Life is created within a few billion years. I am their god. Using my new found 'power' I demand all of their wealth. I bring some back to Earth and 'Dewians' are given to impoverished areas as they can create plentiful amounts of the drink. I receive an Nobel Peace Prize for helping the world. I give my prize money to the next poster. You sir/madam have been donated $1.5 million and now live in a world where there is life elsewhere and people with an improper diet. (Mountain) Dew we all agree with my decision?

Ah, my friend, Kerbal does not appear to be a game that requires a backstory other then 'some green men (and soon, women) looked to the stars and thought "I'd like to go there"' How the KSC got there? Maybe that is how it was when their universe was created. Who knows, Last Thursdayism may be true for the kerbals (Or Last Update-ism).
-
I transmute the 50 antoniniani into solid gold getting about 27.3 antoniniani of solid gold! I use this to pay for my bail for ruining priceless artefacts from the Roman era. Any extra goes into the bank for sweet, sweet compound interest. The next poster gets 100 million dollars! Looks like i made an 'interest'ing decision! *badum tss*

TheGamingNoobster replied to Rune's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Flies like a brick. Mind you, not many bricks can go to orbit though... And how many bricks have the potential to get to Laythe? Yep, still getting used to this kind of SSTO Rune. I will persist and get it on a significant rock. I mean minimal offence with the brick part. The lift ratio (as we have already discussed) is holding me back but I will prevail! A man can only take so many sub orbital hops... I know that the problem isn't the craft but me before you take offence. Edit: I'd probably be done if it weren't for my Math assignment. Calculate pi to 6 digits using Monte carlo, Archimedes and then using matrices for a completely different thing. I have got the first two done... -
Spatha. Six kerbals. 4km/s. 65 parts. One stage.
TheGamingNoobster replied to Rune's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Hey, Revan. I think where your clash with Rune is coming from is the wording. When making a complaint it is best to also have an idea on how it could be improved and mention it. Additionally, express that you understand the effort put in (just as a little extra). Also, understand that this craft may get updated but not changed (severely anyway). The comment 'Negative feedbacks actually improve the design, too bad you can't take it' was quite inflammatory and would be seen as offensive by many. If you do not like something on here just tell the creator HOW it can be improved and WHY and then just move along. Rune did mention that he has been working on this since 0.25. Sorry if this itself may have been rude to you but I just want to help improve things here in the forums. I am no mod or admin but everyone can do their own part. Hopefully this has sorted out the problems between you two -

Ah, thanks. Usually airhog my way getting to 1.2km/s under 30km. -

TheGamingNoobster replied to Rune's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I gave all of the info as I remember being told 'If you are going to tell someone they did something wrong or if they have an issue tell them and also tell them how to improve'. Part of the scientific method *cough* doing 2 sciences gets to you *cough*. I have some difficulty achieving orbit. A different ascent path to my SSTO's (everybody is different). Am I correct to use a steep ascent in low atmosphere and flatten it out at 20km+? And on a completely different topic, the eucl3d website is very cool. Now that they accept .craft files as 3d models... I want... (The shipping to Australia will probably cost the soul of a young child though)
