Reverse Engineering, legit design strategy or intentional robbery?
Jank replied to that1guy's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That's it, I'm suing for royalties! I have the RIAA lawyers on retainer and I'm going to collect from every one of you who ever thought of using my idea of movable vanes designed to control attitude through air friction. Or as I call them "Control Surfaces"â„¢ Now to copyright the term "Kraken Drive"... -
Props to Malfunction M1ke:

Which would you rather have FIRST?
Jank replied to agentexeider's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Multiple star systems. As others have noted, KSP is a nice break from the other games I play, almost all of which are multiplayer. On the other hand, not many other games give you the chance to destroy something that other players have spent days and days building. The grief tears would be especially delicious. Ramming Speed!!!! har har. jk -
When do you start your gravity turn
Jank replied to PetahSchwetah's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I do it at 10,000. Or 300m/s, whichever is sooner. Got bigger worries to worry about. And I do it like BAM, all at once. No lube. -
Now that my tech tree is unlocked, I'm finally going to set off to rescue my marooned Kerbal pilot Shep on Duna.

Aquatics... by which I mean tech which is supposed to be aquatic.

Dat's why I always rig up a decoupler/chute combo for the last-second ditch.

It's an internet thing, moar instead of more. It happens across all sorts of memes.

I finished unlocking my Tech Tree with an expansive 3-hop Minmus Science Scouring mission. ! Joy. Now what to do with steel plates...

This guy should be able to jump from here, no problem....

Why it my Kerbal floating away during EVA's?
Jank replied to FourtyTwo's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Press F to Grab On, immediately after exiting on EVA. My Kerbals never seem to hold onto the ladder when they exit, unless I do this every time without fail. Then they never float off. -
I recruit based on their names, rather than their attributes. Some of my faves: Kirbin Kerman Dunkin and Donkin Kerman, my science lab crew. Hudgel "The Cudgel" Kerman Doodvis "The Dude" Kerman Shepvis "Old Shep" Kerman (currently marooned on Duna) Nelvis "The Pelvis" Kerman (KSC dance champion two years running) Ribbus Kerman

Spin Stabilization Question
Jank replied to Wijbrandus's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
One consideration is that you use them because large massive ships are unwieldy to turn. So add control modules attached to those parts and staged with them. When you dump the mass, you won't need the extra control module weighing you down. I have found however that for me, the big ASAS modules often break a stack due to lesser hull strength or something like that. When I put them in the middle of a big orange stack, or at the ends, they sometimes break the whole rocket in half, like a weak link that the mainsail just breaks. Sometimes directly upon firing up the engines, sometimes during ascent. It's gotten to the point that I kludge up girder-strut assemblies to keep them together. -
Looks kewl. Kinda looks like you could maybe use the 1-man command pod with docking ports attached, for the final gap-fill. Or maybe an OCTO probe core.

Stationed my Minmus Orbital Science Station in orbit around the green cheese moon. Next up is sending a lander and mining out the science from the new biomes to complete my tech tree. Also it is a test for future interplanetary science-extraction efforts.

Been thinking of making a rover with a few ion engines pointing skyward to keep traction... but I suppose the electrical cost would be prohibitive.
