I never thought films that are only ~100 mins long could be so good. My current favourite so far is The Wind Rises, but maybe that's because I'm learning to be an engineer... Given that they're based on old western animations, I bet you must've not knowingly liked one. I have to agree that a lot of the current stuff are just... not good.

The series on YouTube is about as podcast-y as the old audio series. Here's a playlist. There's also BBC's The Boring Talks, though I was only interested since Chris Marshall, owner of roads.org.uk, got an episode there about Ringways. Other than that, I've been listening to podcasts in japanese since I'm interested in the language - some of the examples (also one radio, Fukuyama FM). Either that or Omrop Fryslân.

I'd find that ironic - There are music creators on YouTube as well, and YouTube might well single-handedly be the largest music distribution site ever. I know of one other service that rather than leaving the licensing deals down to the creators, instead it is the service that's licensed to utilize any works. As a result, any original works uploaded there receives protection; on the other hand, derrivative works can always be attributed to their respective original work. Hence why a lot of people do covers of songs there. And that site is mostly not in english - although it has some limited english interface. EDIT : This is a long time since, but more insights on how YouTube copyright system actually works. Turns out the system I described does exists - it's just that there's no way to split the difference I suppose (since I guess they themselves don't get much, plus legals etc).

Maybe they'd be happy to see that thing. Maybe that'd be enough for them.

Sadly I'm not really aware of any open alternatives on the English-speaking part of the internet other than YouTube... (mind "english-speaking". elsewhere where they have no clue about english they have their own sites.)

Where else ? Twitch ? Honestly it should be YouTube that's paying for these.

Not anything happening in my life, nor is it anything I just find out today or yesterday - it's been quite a while - but I just want to share this to the forum, I think it's really cool.

Yeah, I guess it has more to do with "we're not responsible if you're not responsible" thing. If something illegal happens in an unsecured link then honestly they couldn't do a thing - but now if an unsecured link is there then honestly now there's just all reasons for them to think it wasn't very good.
