  1. Granted. It causes sore throat for two days every time you speak lower then low A. I wish for free unlimited EVE: Online access for myself.
  2. Hello, guys I was thinking about buying a new space game, this time sci-fi. I already own Space Engineers, and EVE Online is too expensive imo, so I am choosing between Elite: Dangerous and X3: Terran Conflict. I am basically asking which one gives me more bang for the buck, being frugal and all. There's also the matter of my PC, which is an older Lenovo Thinkpad with Ivy Bridge I5, 8GB RAM, nVidia GT 630M (2 GB) and 128GB Crucial SSD (Upgrade). Both games run on linux, so this should be fine. For now, I think I'll get X3, because I'm not sure whether my laptop can handle Elite. What do you think?
  3. That's not that bad. Just remember 70's sitcoms (With the sole exception of Senfield). Also, there is this guy: I consider him almost a nutcase. For those of you who doesn't know him, it's Giorgio A. Tsoukalos. The theory itself is not that bad (albeit I don't give it much of a chance), but I once saw a discovery channel documentary about "Ancient astronauts", and he attributed pretty much everything from the invention of the wheel to 2nd world war to aliens.
  4. Cranking up gamma will make your game look awful. PlanetShine is what you need. It also has some other niche visual effects in vacuum.
  5. Zombies are coming... Now really: capi3101 answered your question.
  6. I'm pretty sure the claw makes a rigid connection, or at least I've never managed to break it. As you described it, you shouldn't have any issues.
  7. ... and that was quite a long time ago. My guess? About 3 million copies out there, and a million active players.
  8. I once let MechJeb to land a STS-style mission at KSC... (A long time ago, in a galaxy far far...) MechJeb tried to land it like a rocket, but ran out of Delta-V some 80 meters above terrain. Only the B9 cockpit with insane durability survived. Also, this: Need to get to the island? Have no jets? The Fail Boat is here just for you! ... Turned out to be a pain to get to the beach in one piece, and painfully slow once there (Unless, that is, you want to sink). In the long run, jets were simply better.
  9. Nope. Mine has the voice of... Benedict Cumberbatch. It used to be Lex Luthor's voice, that is until I watched BBC's Sherlock for the first time.
  10. Wait... it just won't dock or what? If that's the case, it's a bug. Try moving the science module away, so that the rest of the vessel gets unloaded (maybe even switching to another vessel so that it gets unloaded might help), or deleting it with hyperedit and putting it back. If that's not the issue, try fiddling with the dock height. It's probably misaligned.
  11. Put some tail fins on the bottom of your rocket. Make sure your CoM is well above your CoL and, most importantly, start your gravity turn early, probably as low as 500 m AGL. If you follow your prograde during ascent, you should have no problems.
  12. Banned for incomplete images in sig.
  13. Not really, a part can only attach to one point. You need to do it using struts, and with the offset gizmo you can make it look like a closed tube.
  14. It's due to my job, I work in a trauma center and I see bad things all day. Writing helps me to sort my thoughts and to cope with bad feelings coming from seeing a lot of misery. It often ends up really dark, though...
  15. VTOL means exactly "Vertical Take-Off and Landing". Excluding rockets, there is just a handful of jet-powered VTOLs - for example, the Harrier jump jet. This design uses thrust vectoring to make the thrust go vertically and lift the plane off the ground. In ksp, however, there is no such vectoring. You need to put jet engines facing downward around the CoM with enough TWR to lift off, and then some horizontal engines (optional) to propel your plane forward. It's not as easy as it sounds, though, since it's really touchy for balance - you'll spend a lot of time tweaking the downward jets so that the plane doesn't flip. And even then, it's difficult to get it back to the ground in one piece. IMHO it's way easier to make a normal plane - doesn't mean you shouldn't try VTOLs
  16. Yep. Space Engineers is an awesome game, 750+ hours on the record. Watch your system, though, my ultrabook (low TDP I7 + Intel HD 5500) went from 70 fps in empty world (high setting) to 4 fps when I finished my 300-block (600 m) battlecruiser (low setting + windowed 800x600).
  17. EVE Online. I heard there's a strategy part to it - though I am not rich enough to play it myself. Probably not really what you want, but at least the demo was fun.
  18. IMHO Minecraft became too bloated to be useful, and it's kind of a no-brainer unless you have architectural tendencies. Also, many kids play minecraft, which more often than not spoils the fun on servers with griefing. KSP is much more refined in my opinion, and requires some brain to play. Missing multiplayer (in stock) might be a pain and prevents PvP. And it's more expensive, I'm not so sure about its bang-for-the-buck ratio any more, now that it's €40. Just take your pick...
  19. Never had a taco in my life - I'm living in central Europe. TUBM has ever been to Europe.
  20. No, thanks. I'd lose my job on earth. Press the button to engage the warp drive.
