No, not all planets. Just the ones that are broken. If you try it, you'll notice pretty readily that turning it on if it isn't needed also breaks the visuals. Why that is I'm not too well equipped to say. I believe its to do with scatterer needing to be able to modify the clouds on the fly, but thats just my best guess. That'd be a question for blackrack on what that setting actually does and why it might break visuals on some planets but not others.
-
Yes thats it precisely. The same should be done for any other body that has the same issue. But do not toggle the EVE Cloud setting on the atmo.cfg under Jool in the planets folder. That will cause Jool to have the opposite problem and turn nearly white.
-
Ah okay I may have lied, because I fixed something and didn't put two and two together. So what happened is that EVE integration on Jool (and several other bodies that need it) was set to false in planetlist.cfg. Without that toggled, it basically breaks the interacton between both mods. So if that is set to True, then it should fix the black jool problem.

@N3N @caipi So I loaded up JNSQ by itself and Jool is working fine with the latest version of Scatterer. So either JNSQ is already updated or something else was breaking your game. -

Hmm. I'll give it a try without Ad Astra and see if I can troubleshoot it. I'm pretty quickly picking back up what does what so it might be an easy fix if I can reproduce the bug. -

Interestingly, for me at least, updating Scatterer has mostly just been to accomodate changes in JNSQ. Whatever changed with Scatterer did not really break my mod, so I can't imagine it actually broke anything with JNSQ. -

That is 100% correct. That's actually what i'm working on now is going through each body and updating the configs to accommodate the new version. Won't have any new bells and whistles that may have been added to scatterer but it will work and still look visually awesome. -

1.7 Update Preview: Laythe is obviously going to be changing, which I believe is due to changes in JNSQ itself, but frankly, I LOVE how it looks now so we're stickin with it. -
SOL: High Fidelity Graphics for KSRSS - Wen Release?!?
G'th replied to G'th's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Yeah it was kind of amusing when I found GGE, as it seemed like that user had some of the same ideas I did for those bodies. Mine are still going to be suitably different, but it definitely wasn't lost on me the work that went into those. And yeah USIVA has been abandonware for a while unfortunately, for the same reason Ad Astra and SOL got put on hold for three years. But unfortunately I pretty much lost all of the knowledge I had on doing IVA's so getting it back up to spec would be a pain and a half. But from what I know, the problem probably stems from the hacky kitbash of MAS and RPM props in that release, which was necessary at the time, but I would think by now it should just be able to go all MAS, unless no one ever converted the props over. But, my issue is also that of the Shuttle mods available, they either don't work or I don't like them for various reasons. SOCK is okay and works, but having to kitbash to make a Block II is something I very much dislike, which is why I was always a Cormorant stan, which is unfortunately in an unadoptable limbo as long as Firespitter is still broken. If Cormorant was adoptable I'd probably have snatched it up if someone else already hadn't, but the lack of a satisfactory Shuttle tends to keep my motivation to try and pick back up the IVA pretty low. I've always had the thought of doing a pack myself, though. Most Shuttle mods just focus on the US Orbiter or just the one Buran variant, and its understandable why, but for me through my research for my alternate history, I've been exposed to a ton of different Shuttle configurations that would all make for awesome parts, and what Shuttle mods touch only barely scratches the surface. It tends to seem like the people who start up Shuttle mods never seem to maintain enough interest to go farther, and in some cases even finish what they started, which is disappointing. But, my experience with modelling is virtually nonexistent and everytime I've tried I just face a brick wall with trying to learn Blender. Yet to find a tutorial to follow that ever made that program click for me, so that idea just remains a fantasy. -

Dev work has begun on SOL, which is linked in my signature. While I haven't started on it, I have an inkling to go ahead and update Ad Astra to be up to 1.12.3, or at least whatever the latest version of JNSQ is up to anyway. Unlike my Shuttle IVA mod from yesteryear Id rather not end up abandoning this one, particularly considering I want to do a full revamp of it in the long term using the assets I'll be developing for Sol. So stay tuned. From what Ive seen getting everything updated, including Scatterer, will be a breeze, so while there may not be anything new, it will at least be confirmed working, which Im sure will be appreciated if nothing else. -

Thats what I figured was the case. Fortunately not going to be an issue for me. Finally got my install working so once I get some playtime in I'll be going in hard. Gonna be fun. -

Interesting. Definitely sounds like we'll be making some bespoke configs for scatterer then. I don't mind; IIRC I threw them out for Ad Astra anyway, or at least threw them out just for my own install haha. -

Huh, how about that. So is that a problem with configs needing to be rebuilt for each planet pack or is there something more fundamental thats breaking scatterer in conjunction with planet packs? Generally speaking I'd prefer to push everything to be as up to date as possible, but of course if scatterer just doesn't work unless you're in stock then thats obviously not going to work. -

Good question. Not quite there yet as I'm still tweaking with my own install and tracking down weird bugs I keep getting. I also wasn't aware there was more than one. lol -

Indeed. First step is getting back into the swing of things and that'll be a pack similar to this one except much more elaborate and built for KSRSS. Then I'll likely come back and release a new version of this based on what I have planned for the other pack. Only a matter of time basically. Had quite a lot of time to think about what I want to do and how it can be done. -
Technically its been a few weeks but I've been getting settled and unfortunately the excitement of being able to play Bannerlord, which I missed out on originally due to worldly events, precluded my own interest in KSP. It even stopped me from writing the alternate history I've been plugging away at for months over at alternatehistory.com But, now I'm in. Where should I go? I usually head for Mun but may be I should challenge myself for a change?

I have returned from the land of spells and fairies and twice over COVID diagnoses. Fortunately, despite being one of those unlucky people, I am relatively unscathed and while my life isn't terribly awesome atm, I'm in a position to be playing video games again on the regular, and with recent news about Artemis and SpaceX, well, you can guess what I've been itching to play for the greater part of a year. Its going to take time for me to get back up where I was (and I know i've said this before when I've disappeared for a while but hey, what can you do lol) as far as modding goes, but I do still want to keep going with what I was working on before 2020 interrupted me. IDK if I had ever laid it out, but essentially the idea is to do a recreation of our solar system in the style of Ad Astra, but with a focus on being as accurate as possible on top of being over the top graphically. I haven't looked, so whether that ends up being a true planet pack in of itself or just a visuals replacer for an already available planet pack remains to be seen (though I'm leaning towards that, as I didn't particularly enjoy that aspect of it when I experimented originally) but I still have my general list of ideas and others that I've added since., so if I can get it up and running, I will be very excited to see how its received. -
Well I was thinking more from the perspective of a creative where its hard to say for certain that any given creation is "perfect". Cobalt may be happy with the models as they stand but give him another year of experience and experimentation and those current models might start looking like garbage. Or he may find himself capable of rendering even better models at a baseline level, and he may find it necessary to scrap them simply because the initial presumption behind the creation has changed.
