Boeing 747 This is one of my replicas of airplanes in real life. So, it is a little under sized, however, it is quite heavy, and thus I have to clip more engines into each other.

Huge thanks to @Azimech, whose incredible advice made this craft pososible. This craft is a full stock, 1:1 scale replica of the Boeing Pelican Ultra, a cargo ekranoplan/aircraft. This Colossus would have carried massive amounts of military hardware long distances, primarily across the sea to maximize fuel efficiency. However, it never made it past the concept stage, and now only exists in the form of vague specifications and inconsistent artist renditions. Having taken 5 months to complete, being composed of just under 3,000 parts, weighing in at 1.8 kiltons, with a wing span of 150 meters and being 120 meters in length, this craft is by far the largest and most ambitious project I have ever undertaken. The craft is also full to the brim of stock mechanisms. It utilizes 4 of my T-4650 stock turboprops, which together produce nearly 19,000 kN of thrust. The craft’s entire nose section rotates upwards to reveal the cargo bay, this is made possible with what is perhaps the largest stock joint ever created. The joint in question is made up of an orange tank that is held within a fairing precisely tuned to its diameter. It also features a ramp, which is incredibly mundane by comparison. All this work on to ensure that the craft could feasibly be used to transport payloads would have been for naught if the craft didn’t actually have any payload capabilities. Fortunately, this craft can easily carry payloads of well over 1000 tonnes, although it’s exact upper limit is as yet unknown. To get this beast into the air, a huge number of hidden control surfaces are used. The center of lift is also placed in front of the center of mass to ensure that it flies nice and easily. Download: https://kerbalx.com/Kronus_Aerospace/Kronus-Pelican-ULTRA (<-- As well as additional screenshots) Part Count: 2857 Irrelevant Information (AKA Gloating): -You could play a full sized game of Football (Soccer) on this craft’s back across its wings. -The cargo bay is so large that you could easily fit a 747 inside. -With full payload this craft is both larger and heavier than the Saturn V. -This craft produces 24 times the thrust of a 747. -I think you get the point.

The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle A fighter jet for the history books The F-15 Eagle began as a design concept in the early 1960s for an extremely agile next-generation fighter. It would be extremely maneuverable, have advanced avionics, as well as a dangerous combination of range, speed, and weaponry. Export Models F-15s serve in the air forces of the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Japan, and now, Kerbin's. It features high-powered engines, avionics packages, range-extending drop tanks, and a suite of missiles. The common export variety features the same loadout as F-15 Eagles in Operation Desert Storm. It is packed with two drop tanks, six AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles and two AIM-7 Sparrow missiles, as well as two LANTIRN pods, one for navigation and one for targeting. Squid plane hammerhead eagle i-thrust thingie with tartar sauce. Kerbin Cruiser transonic business jet Also known as the product of looking at too many Boeing concepts and going "How hard can it be?" It has the wings of a 787, engines from an Ilyushin 62, canards off a Devastator mated to the nose of a steam locomotive. What could possibly go wrong? KSP 1.3.1 stock, get it from https://kerbalx.com/pandoraskitten/Kerbincruiser Naming credits: Lewis MacRae from KSP Facebook Group

Hellow fellow Kerbonauts!!! So I thought to share some of my waterplane replica's with you guys! The first one is the Catalina PBY. In my mind the most beautiful!!! Note that I made some cool gear storing bay The last picture is a real one so you can judge for yourselves The second one is the Boeing 314 Clipper. One of the most biggest waterplanes ever flown. It has a cool pod so you can actually get out and back in. handy for on water crew transitions. Here also the last picture is a real one Kreetings!! Ferdoni

So, Boeing rolled out their proposal for the USAF's T-X program. It's a nice, clean plane, and I wonder if someone can do a nice replica. I've been working a little on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, it was not really supposed to be a KSP mod, more like some personal modelling and texturing training, but I thought about it, and I came to the result that it might not be a bad idea to also make it a KSP mod, so here we go! I will make some simplifications here and there (flaps for example), but will try to make it overall close to the real thing. I will probably use the stock gear though. I will also try to do an IVA (never did that before), but I will first need to set up everything else, which could be a bit harder because I've never made plane parts for KSP before. I'll keep you informed about my progress here! So, I finished the models I think (note that the engine fan is still missing, I will texture that): Hope you'll like my little project!

Hello everyone! The other day, I decided to replicate a passenger plane as best as I could. After focusing on the Boeing 787 (Because of the Mk3 Mini Expansion mod's Airliner Cockpit), the following is what I came up with: Mods used (also required if you download): TweakScale - Goodspeed & Biotronic / pellinor Mk3 Mini Expansion - K.Yeon Adjustable Landing Gear - BahamutoD Camera Tools (For the pics) - BahamutoD Download (Dropbox) Please notify me in the comments if there's a problem with the download link! ~Kerban Aircraft Industries (KAI)

This thread is a split from this thread (http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/93907-CCiCap-was-announced-SpaceX-and-Boeing-were-selected/) that is just to discuss the SNC challenge to the CCtCap Program and its implications and effects. Starting off with some new news... http://spaceflightnow.com/news/n1410/01cctcapprotest/#.VCzrZ_ldWSo so Nibb and Kryten you were right, it will delay the program the only loophole suggested by that article is which is more a loophole that SpaceX is more likely to take than Boeing Also the OFFICIAL GAO dockett link is http://www.gao.gov/docket/B-410485.1 The Attorney is Eric M. It's happening. We've been waiting for this event for years now, and soon everyone (along with SpaceX, Boeing, & Sierra Nevada) will know who will be flying the first U.S. astronauts from U.S. soil since the Space Shuttle retired in 2011, on-board USCV-1 to the ISS, tentatively scheduled to make its first flight in 2017. Live Updates: [4:08 PM 16 September] BOEING AND SPACEX ARE THE WINNERS! [9:10AM 16 September] Lurio, you must be relieved! Stephen Clark via Twitter: "NASA: "Major announcement today about astronaut transport to the International Space Station." 4pm presser at KSC. Buckle your seat belts." [12:41AM 16 September]: Andy Pasztor has published another article on the WSJ, titled: "Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos's Startup Is Part of Bid to Deliver Astronauts". Read the full article here. [9:16 PM EST]: Mr. Lurio to the rescue again... "Latest from elsewhere: WSJ/Pastor item is wrong. Conclusion: We won't know it til we know it, so take stress tab of your choice.". Jeff Foust has also retweeted this. [9:14 PM EST]: Cnet is regurgitating Wall Street Journal's claims that Boeing is to win one of the spots in an article titled: "Boeing said to win NASA space taxi contract". Everyone should be aware that this is complete speculation. There is no evidence to support any of this information. [3:31PM]: "Yet another item: Supposedly someone saw a poster just delivered KSC re CCtCap - included SNC/SpaceX, not Boeing. But I advise caution." Link to Tweet. [3:27PM]: Charles A. Lurio again... "This just in from another re CCtCap: Award tomorrow between 10-11am EDT." [3:06PM]: Charles A. Lurio on Twitter advising that companies will be informed of CCtCap results tomorrow morning, with public announcements following shortly after! All times are in EST BackgroundWith the Retirement of the Space Shuttle, NASA had to pay the Russians for seats on the Soyuz to ferry Astronauts to the ISS. NASA did not like this and started 2 different competitions to resupply and recrew the station. They are known as CCDev and CCtCap respectively. CCDev was the easier of the two and 2 companies made designs and won contracts, SpaceX with the Dragon and Orbital Sciences with Cygnus. The original idea was for CCDev to be a stepping stone for CCtCap, but it did not work out. CCtCap is Commercial Crew. in the beginning there were 5 designs with 4 capsules. They were SpaceX with the Dragon on a Falcon 9, Sierra Nevada Corp with DreamChaser on Atlas 5, Boeing with CST100 on Atlas 5, Blue Origin with New Sheppard on Undecided, and ATK with a CST100 on Liberty (think Aires 1). After the first round money was awarded to Boeing, SpaceX, and Sierra Nevada Corp to continue developing their designs. Boeing got the most money, followed by SpaceX and then SNC. Instead of a lump sum, the awards are parsed out based on milestones. This announcement is the end of the second phase. At this point, NASA has the money for 1.5 Contracts and this announcement is for who gets the big contract to actually carry astronauts to the ISS. Current Speculation is that Boeing has the strongest case because they have completed 100% of their milestones, with SpaceX in second with something like 80%. The main difference is that SpaceX has proven technology that has flown in the last decade, last time a Boeing Capsule flew was the apollo capsule. Tomorrow is the BIG day when the three lean whether or not they will get money to continue building their craft. SpaceX has already said that if they do not get selected they will continue to build the Dragon V2, it will just take longer. AFAIK there has been no announcements from SNC or Boeing on what happens if they do not get selected. for more info on the designs CST 100 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CST-100 Dragon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_V2 DreamChaser http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_Chaser also reddit is a great place for more info and is where I am getting the updates from https://www.reddit.com/r/spacex/comments/2gi43x/rspacex_nasa_cctcap_downselect_official/
