I won't argue, I just wanted to post neat stuff and advance this particular niche because I enjoy it.

Ahem.. This happens a lot on this forum, people mistaking others intentions. We are not arguing are we? I have no interest in an argument man. This is a discussion dude. :D It helps if you quote me so I know you are replying to me and I get a notification you replied. Just for the sake of ease. :)

so, have you tried the no offset limit mod then dude?

I'm not sure what you're talking about, we never argue!

I'm sure editor extensions includes the no offset limits mod?

Ah cool. So Azimech, am I correct in saying that the Piston mod uses Infernal Robotics scripts to make its bearings?

I'm waiting gosh damnit! :D

True, actually the IR .dll is the only file I need, the ignition runs on stock part modules being coerced in doing things they never thought possible.

So if I were to take one of your engines through reentry would it screw with the ignition system???

K deep breath klond.  This is the first forum I've participated in and I replied incorrectly.  It's difficult to determine tone by text and I don't know yall that well yet.  I will not take it personally next time.  Forgive me and let me try again.

I offset things differently without changing dimensions but it didn't go well.  It's possible I missed something.

I think this happened to an Impala I had once.

I disagree (k we're discussing now) when you say these particular parts (antenna and thermometers) are less stable the further they are from their parent in 1.2.0.  I want to say that because I think the points of pressure (the two antennas that fell out) would receive less direct instant stress if they were further apart, like in the original design, and not as directly under the piston.  Just a guess.

I'm going to keep messing around and hope to put 8 of them together soon.

No offset mod.  I don't want any mods, but if the stock game allows it without tweaks I'll try it.  I still wanna try to make stuff look connected best I can though.

lol!

Yeah I can see what you mean and without actually seeing your craft up close it is very hard to know for sure. The thermo hinges are very sensitive to force. As I have said a few times before I made them simply so I could make small detailed craft with custom doors/ramps/cargo bays and for that they are perfect! Anything else is a massive bonus so I am always happy to see people taking them further. I am still trying to get my tank tracks to work with them..

Yeah, trying to keep everything super lightweight.  Hell, lets push it and see what we can make.

Well I got 2 to mostly work, but had to make it inline - a v shape ain't working yet.  Parts choices are limited at the small scales obvi.  Each little bearing is 8 thermometers snapped plus an antenna, so 9 x however many I need means parts count goes up quick.  Not sure it's worth publishing, just wanted to idk keep yall up to date.   Sorry about the drama earlier.

Speaking of tracks I'll try post my giant chain later!  Stay tuned.

Yup as it should be. I discovered that is the minimum number of parts needed for a smooth 360 rotation, as seen in my old thread:

Did you see my tank track vid?

Made when I was using thermos and ant engines but now I use antennas the system is basically the same but more compact. :D

A while ago when I knew jack beans.  Seeing it now, it's so nice and compact.  Neat to see the progression.

How is the project now?  I would think Rigid Attachment would help some.  With landing gear having high tolerance I wonder if that could help get your track to the ground.

 giant chain

Getting this downsized is gonna be work.  If this gets momentum we'll need a new thread started (or if there's an old one we can revive).

Sadly the thermos and antenna do not have rigid attachment so it would not help my design. yours it might though! It looks quite stable from the video man. I just need to get my links perfectly lined up so a lot of work to do and it's just a silly side project so it wont be finished for a while.

Time to revive this one with an updated list of piston engines. And I've got a feeling piston tech might really take off this time.

First @klond's 12 cylinder radial:

And links to his other piston creations:

And a few of mine as well.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
