I suppose typing would be much faster....for my generation, at least :P:)

Actually I tried that in college. Even with edit running (notepad? You'd need Windows for that and my machine only came with MS DOS 5) the act of getting to the computer woke me up too much to effectively remember the dream. Maybe if you could type well enough with your phone but that takes a lot of mental energy for me, far more than writing or typing.

I dreamt that part of the atmosphere got sucked off into space because of...I think it was the portal from Drain the Oceans? The wind was extremely strong blowing south, and there was a really cool giant beetle and a homeless man in a cave. Eventually the wind died down, and I knew the pressure had equalized. I went outside to test the pressure.

For several months in my teens I kept a dream journal. The first week or so the entries were like "It was in the woods and I think my teacher was there." and then suddenly it was like a switch flipped, and I was filling the page with stuff I remembered.

I thought that the dream journals were fake or placebo such as homeopathy.

But if someone here has tried it and it worked, I guess I’ll give it a try. :P Wish me luck!

Another thing that helps is if you take a few seconds right when you wake up to just reflect on the dream a little bit before you open your eyes, you're much more likely to remember it later.

Hey just because it works doesn't mean it's not a placebo.

But no really I think it works. Like exercising works to build muscle, or repeating things helps remember them.

Had a lucid dream! The first thing I thought was along the lines of "hey, this is a dream!". After that, I woke up.

How can you prolong the time? I was only aware it was a dream for no more than a few seconds.

Doublethink. Continue believing in the dream while simultaneously being completely aware of everything in it.

Some unusual dreams I've had, a blank line between them means they're different dreams,

>get lots of plarce or whatever it's called on my teeth so I use my bare hands to rip a tooth out so I can see it

>be outside doing s---
>factorio-style robot flies towards me and tries to shoot me
>find that there's some cult offering safety from those
>go to it for some reason
>cult has a process where they hang "possessed" people
>proceed to realise it's a dream and wake up

>dream that my house is f---ing massive
>a friend who I have never met in real life and one other guy I know on discord live in it
>there are 2 more cats than in real life
>mfw thing which is an egg but with the bottom having a chocolate layer covering some m&ms at the bottom
>mfw the egg is f---ing massive, think of an egg the size of a tissue box, that's roughly how big it was

There were also 2 dreams I've had which while unusual enough to qualify for this thread, they were NSFW, so I won't post them here.

Last night I dreamed that my friends and I were messing with another friend of mine who was trying to get to my house, he was on the phone with us and bad at directions, we directed him through a forest which for some reason we went through also, and ended up on the other end of the forest, outside the town. Then we ran around some lone house messing with him more. It was fun. I briefly had a third person aireal view of the whole area. I could recognize my house and my friend's town was down in the distance. That is all the same in real life. However the forest we went through does not exist in real life, and neither is there nothing where the "outside the town" is, there's another town there irl, with a mall. Uh what else. Right so this forest and "outside the town" place has appeared in my dreams in the past as well. It always looks the same. I don't know why I keep getting this place in dreams if it doesn't exist can someone help me figure that out

Honestly, I can't remember any "full" dreams, only no-context excerpts from the weirder, more disturbing dreams I've had.

I'm not sure I can elaborate on them here, as many of them have themes that are either surreal horror or pseudo-pornography -- many of which with tones that some people might find offensive to their race, religion, sexuality, etc.

Before I tell you 'bout my dream, I'd like to say I'm not crazy. The dream SCARED me at the time. Also, it's much weirder than it seems

Okay. I had the dream at my grandma's house back in third-ish grade. For some reason, I decided to go back to sleep and just flopped over onto the bed. [Start dream!] I was in the outskirts of the recess area at my school. It was foggy and I was just walking forward. There was a large knife on the ground and I picked it up for no apparent reason. I continued walking until I saw a small fox climbing a tree to get some eggs out of a birds nest. I took it down and stabbed it in the head and it ran away unharmed. I then stabbed the eggs and a bakugan came out of one of them. A subterra brontes to be exact. [End dream!]

Okay... that was weird. I can explain! Firstly, the fox. I've been in a special-ed program since the middle of first grade (I'm a junior in HS now), and my parents were going to send me to a proper special-ed school (not that far away, like a mile or two) soon (middle of third grade year). My last name is Fox. The stabbing and running away symbolized me moving schools forcefully. I probably overheard my parents and/or teachers talking about it at one point.

Now the simpler part; the eggs. The egg drop challenge was later that day. It's a thing where you build a device to protect an egg from a long fall. Most contraptions used a combination of garbage bag parachutes and cotton balls in a shoe box. Yeah. Lotsa eggs got smooshed. Also, I was really, REALLY into bakugan back then.

See? I'm not crazy, right?

Now, I've been getting an increased number of sleep paralysis episodes lately. Not too sure why, but it has made for some interesting experiences.

About a week ago, I was falling asleep early in the morning before I somehow consciously stayed awake and ended up in sleep paralysis. Not to big of a deal, just not being able to move is a little scary. And if you've experienced this before, you know that you will most likely hallucinate as well. This happened to be one of those nights.

After about maybe 5 to 15 seconds later, I start hallucinating. I see countryballs. Weird. This sort of caught me off guard because maybe 10 seconds later the countryballs disappeared and I started to see creepy and extremely scary horror stuff that I though I tucked away in my mind for good. By then I wanted to scream, but I couldn't. If I was sensible I would have calmed down until it passed, but you can't necessarily do that when you're being swarmed by your worst nightmares. Eventually everything around me disappears and I sit up, shaken and sweating.

Now I'm afraid to sleep :P

I had a weird dream where a friend from school and I had to do some dissection but I specifically remember we needed lead boots gloves and some form of chest protector. And I was annoyed and thought it wasn't sufficient.

Yesterday I dreamt up a whole horror game. It took place in this rural ghost town called Purgatory where dozens of people had inflicted or been the victims of terrible sins of some kind. In order to escape the town, you had to find and perform burial rituals on all the inhabitants, while being chased and terrorized by their ghosts or posessed bodies, in order to condemn their spirits to where they belonged.

It wasn't limited to people either. One of the bosses was a pack of ghost wolves (who i'd assume were the victims of some hunting cruelty, i don't know, i didn't think it over in the dream) who you had to hide from while finding each wolf's body and laying it to rest.

Dunno what your subconscious is trying to tell you there...

My first lucid dream. I was totally aware that I was dreaming, but it never occurred to me that I had the ability to change it.

I was trapped in a mine with my family. Part of a resistance movement and totally surrounded by a cordon of enemy troops. I had to guide/ forage for and protect my family while fighting enemy scouts in the tunnels. This dream went on and on and on...
The thing about lucid dreams... Time passes at a normal rate and you remember all the details as vividly as if  they really happened.
Well... this dream went on for days, and I just kept thinking "what a stupid dream. I'm going to be too tired to work when I wake up".

I still have lucid dreams, but most aren't. When I do have them, it's about a 50/50 chance that I will remember that I can control them... but I almost always forget that at some point during the dream.

Best,
-Slashy

Has anybody ever had a dream about waking up (while still dreaming)? if yes, what is it like?

All of my lucid dreams start that way.

Actually... let me back up. I know I'm going to have a lucid dream when I start experiencing a "night terror". I'm paralyzed and hallucinating. Something threatening me, and I can't move, can't speak. That's where it really starts.

I think a lot of people experience this from time to time, and the natural reaction is to struggle to wake up so you can defend yourself. I figured out one night that the proper response is to just accept it for what it is and just let myself "fall into" the dream.

My first moment in a lucid dream is always waking up in my bed. Since I'm already tipped off to the dream state (by the whole night terror thing), my first reaction is always astonishment at how "real" the dream seems. then I get out of bed and look out the window to confirm that things aren't normal.
After that, I start figuring out what I want to do in the dream.

Other times, something in the dream will clue me in that it's a dream, but I won't make the connection that I'm in control of it. That just winds up being a very vivid memory of something that never really happened. I still always start those dreams at the point where I wake up in bed, though.
