A BadS Asteroid Hauler: the Kranefly Mk.E

I've seen a lot of posts asking for help shifting large rocks, so I thought I'd post my Class E asteroid hauler, the Kranefly Mk.E:

Class E Asteroid Hauler (Towing)

Takeoff Mass (with lifter): 1630t

Orbital mass (fully fueled): 236t

Vacuum dV (ship only): 5495 m/s

Hauling dV (3000t load) ~150m/s

Crew: 2

Main Power: 16x LV-N

Auxiliary Thrust: 4x T30

Other Features: Loads of RCS fuel and gyro torque. Floodlights on boom for asteroid targeting.

Instructions:

Standard vertical launch ascent profile. Turns well in atmosphere but don't push your luck. Note that the SRBs do not separate--one stage to 70km, then eject the lifter, light the LV-Ns and circularize. Take care separating from lifter, you can damage the towing boom.

Action Groups:

1. Toggle LV-N engines

2. Toggle conventional rockets (emergency thrust)

8. Toggle solar panels

Awesome, right in the nick of time.

I just don't like how it is a manned craft instead of probe-powered. But welp, I guess it's just an additional layer of risk.

Yeah, I like to use it to give new Kerbals some XP for solar SOI, and to collect samples from captured rocks. Feel free to stick an OKTO under the forward (shielded) port if you don't want to send a crew, it's got loads of solar

Awesome! What about the dwagonfly class asteroid hauler? And you said you will replace the dwagonfly and kranefly so when you replace it can you post that?

Well thanks, but this was actually the v0.90 version of the Kranefly--the thread is after all about a year old  I never did get around to posting the v1.0 version which is just now being retired from Kerbfleet service. I suppose this one is still of historical interest, never confirmed whether it still works OK in the present version. In any case it definitely lacks at least one feature of every sensible V1+ hauler: a drill!

Drills! Yay! I'm designing an asteroid hauler based on the 1.0 versions. When is the new kranefly coming out? Probably 1.1 right?
