Bright twinkling star during launch

Has anyone else noticed the bright twinkling star on a 90 degree heading that seems to show up on launch right about when it's a good time to do a gravity turn? Was that put there intentionally?

That looks like Minmus, to me.

The bright twinkling star is Minmus (If you don't have DOE)

Looks like Minmus...but it could be anywhere around the sky near the ecliptic.

Yep, that's definitely minmus. If you want to download Distant Object Enhancement and turn on display name on mouseover you can determine for sure what it is. You can also go to map view and see if Minmus is in the same place as you can see it as.

I downloaded Distant Object Enhancement and confirmed that it is Minmus. That's a really cool mod. I had no idea you could actually see distant planets like that.

Yup. Unfortunately, the Mun and Minmus (I think maybe Duna as well, but it's suuuuuuuper tiny) are the only celestial bodies visible like that from Kerbin besides Kerbol. The rest of them are all from DOE.

Go to map view and align its display with your main screen view (so both are looking in the same direction). You'll find that this is Minmus, as others have said.

Shouldn't be too surprised, you can after all see Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and Venus from Earth with the naked eye. In fact Jupiter and Venus are two of the brightest 'stars' in the night sky.

I've looked for Duna... aligned the map view and camera view, etc... I can't see it.

When you are in IVA you can look through the window and zoom to pretty crazy levels. Useful if you are looking for Duna or Jool in the sky. Don't expect to see Eeloo though

Whatever it is, it makes me want a telescope of some kind in game.
