Am I the only "Glass half full" guy around here?

It's an amazing release. I've already posted how silly I think the angry demands for a hotfix 12 hours after release are :) but there are actually fairly few demands and also some more balanced constructive feedback posts too. I'm happy to work around the bugs until the hotfix which is surely on the way. In the mean time I'll occupy myself going "oooooooohhhhh" every time I unlock a new part and giggling as my pods explode!

The new aerodynamic system is perfect for me. pre 1.0 I used FAR, found it too complicated, so I tried NEAR and found it too simple. But the new stock aero seems to hit the sweet spot (at least for me)

The new aero basically is NEAR though, the interesting changes are in the heat system (which previously only existed in KSP Interstellar).

The VAB was more than half full.

Wackjob, can I have the craft file for that?

EDIT: Whoever designed this forum is a BadS flipping genius! Instead of letting me accidentally double post, it just edited my previous post to include the new content!

Uh, sure. Let me finish it up, so it's functional the way I want it to be, and then sure. I'll post it.

I'm feeling that the OS X glass has been left empty since .25

Frankly, I'm very happy with the changes implemented with 1.0... BUT the reliability and crashing to desktop is still present.

I sense this is due to very poor QA and testing coverage regarding OS X in general.

Still... Love the game, but my patience with it has fallen. In the past when I has a crash, I would reload. Now I just walk away for awhile and release my anger.

EDIT: Regarding the general sentiment that the community has become negative and tolling... NOT SO. What we are experiencing is the result of a constantly maturing and evolving community that through the entire early access process has developed a feeling of comradeship and joint ownership regarding the content and configuration of the final product of KSP. When the Devs appear to not listen, the volume of response rises, when a release continues to deliver persistent bugs identified multiple releases prior then the volume of dissent rises. Its only natural.

Where are you on the graph???

While it's still not 100% perfect in OS X, I've had the least amount of problems with this version than any previous version. And even if there had been more problems, I doubt anything Squad could break now could ever possibly be as bad as the old 0.14 - 0.16 days when the updater didn't work at all and when it did you still had to chmod +x the executable manually.

There are a couple of things that spring to mind when I read this. First off, this is a really good game when played stock. What makes it a superduperliciously great game, is the modding community. All them mods is what makes this game shine. When the developers implement features that previously have been provided by mods, I have rather high expectations - because I think the game is so good. This especially happens when they implement stuff that previously has been provided by great mods, like FAR and DRE. Personally, I cannot fathom why you would want to play this game stock, when it is so much better with mods. :)

Having said that, I'd like to point out that I really prefer when the developers implement stuff, even though it might have been implemented well in a mod. Mods are still bolt-ons, even though some of them are very pretty bolt-ons.

Secondly, this is the 1.0 release. The game is supposed to be finished. Another thing that raises the bar, so to speak.

The new content is fantastic but there are a ton of obvious problems that need ironed out. The list is so big I can't type it all out here. Mining, aerodynamics, heat, females etc. FANTASTIC! Things we have wanted to see for a long time. We cant simply ignore the problems though. If we dont point out what needs fixing they won't be or else they would not have released it like this in the first place. Im not a complaining self intitled prick I just want to see the game get better as it always has.

After just about every big update comes a smaller one that fixes the major problems, turning a halfbroken passable update into a gem.

Exactly the same as for most games, for that matter. Its been at least a decade since you could reasonably expect that any new game would not have bugs at release. With content delivery systems like steam, patches are not a massive deal anymore either.

I only got to play it a few hours yesterday, but I had no issues with OSX.

Getting used to the changes was a bit frustrating at times, but I like it.

My biggest complaint is that the part rebalance still makes 3x1 1 kerbal pods better than 1x 3 kerbal command pod, as far as mass is concerned.

The mk1-2 pod is too heavy..... its as heavy as the ISRU equipment (which I was having some problems with... but thats for another thread)

After a good four hours, I like 1.0 a bunch. At first I was thrown by the new aerodynamics then after two flights I figured it out that we can't do the 'crank it over to 45 degrees at 10K" thing anymore. On those flights I just cut the power, waited until the craft spun upright, then slowly added power back and ta da... orbit!

- I'm liking the auto-contracts.

- new tech tree is cool

- the little half-size solid booster is neat

- seems to be more money coming in while doing the basic startup grind. I've updated some buildings a lot faster than I remember from .90

- Super cool seeing the exhaust flow out the bottom vents on the pad now!

Also, didn't have to spend any 'real' money to download the update! Sweet, thanks Squad! The only very minor complaint is not being able to unlock large fuel tanks immediately. Ok, I'll stack eight small tanks together and still get to orbit.

My glass tipped over from the amount of great content this game has introduced to new players and Veterans alike. We're all back to square 1 because of Aero and Re-Entry heat. So in theory, the community should be pulling together to help others find the optimum time to begin your gravity turn like back in the Soupy Atmosphere days. But I think the negativity is coming from all the new players that saw the word "space" in the description on steam and immidiatly thought of the opening space scene from Call of Duty: Ghosts. When they saw no guns and that there was no trashy story, they (the COD 6 year olds) did what they do best: ruin communities because they didn't get what they wanted.

P.S: Put me halfway across the Graph next to blind fanboy. And halfway up the "posts a lot" part. :D So dead in the middle of the top right box

Im shocked and amazed my little lol-graph is catching on. I declare it to be open-source and set it free into the internets.

Snaps to Red Iron Crown for quietly taking on the maintenance of said graph.

That said you can put me in "Rarely post" and a bit left of center.

No need for me to post every time I update it. :)
