Fairing Problems

Has anyone encountered an issue where the fairing pieces clip into the vessel once jettisoned, causing the game to believe the vessel is moving over terrain (even though clearly in a stable orbit)?

It goes away after a minute or so, but it gets annoying. To be clear, i am running a modded game, but i had it happen to me while unmodded too. Just thought i'd ask around

yep; it also disables maneuver nodes, patched conics, apopasis/periapsis readouts, and prevents you from quicksaving.

For me, it will stay that way indefinitely; I have to dislodge the stuck piece before the game regains it's sanity. (usually by spinning the rocket very fast)

On a related note, the fairings will destroy undeployed solar panels (the uncased 2x3, 1x6, and gigantor) when the fairing is jettisoned. (could be due to the same thing that causes clipping)

I've had it happen once. Well, with one craft. I couldn't recreate it with other craft so I'm not sure what exactly caused it. I had a fuel tank below the fairing and a decoupler above it (both the same size), and the fairing (also the same size) came almost straight out for maybe .2 meters before going straight up around my payload.

I've made fairings that are essentially the same before and since, and they don't have the problem. Just that one.

Spinning the craft (Not even violently, just a few rotations) knocked them loose.

That's what i have been resorting too, just spinning like hell to shake them loose. Seems like a stock bug then. Well, p-fairings it is.

Does time warping not work? The two objects wont register collisions on time warp. Should phase right out.

Probably. I tend to ditch my fairings at about 45-50km though, and I don't want to wait through all they shaky cam until I'm there.
