SO...the spice launch system is outdated. Who thinks I should make a 1.0.2 release? I will have to do atleast part of it for use with the css anyway. Just a thaught. will check licencing of course

I'm backing out of that vote.

I have no clue what the update will bring or how it effects mods for that matter.

Although it does seem with each update, mods need updates as well so if it were me, I would hold off for now.

They say by the end of this week if they can push it out so it won't be long.

Ok I hear you. But I think with something like a solid rocket booster it may just be attach node changes to go along with the 1.0 update. Simple compared to the CSS. I may have a go if it's easy and trial it out and report back.

Just so you know dragon had nothing to do at all with the mod other than config maintenance. All of the work was done by rocket2guns and Cepheus so they are the ones you should be thanking, and even that is dubious at best. I am 99.9% sure the original models and textures are just the ones off of NASA's website as they look identical down to poly count and texture pixel density, so you should be thanking NASA/JPL.

Really ? I thought that rocket2guns made it from scratch. He was 3d artist in one company ( created Mafia ).

So it loks like he used the NASA's model... Hmm did not know that. Realy thought he made it from scratch.

Here are 2 pictures right off NASA's site. Here is the shuttle, notice it looks almost identical even in the low res pic of it they have. Here is the booster, notice this is identical to the original booster that came with css before dragon replaced it with the one from bobcat's American pack. It's possible rocket2guns did some work to upgrade the models but they are almost certainly of lineage to these models/textures.

Strange, but after reentry, at a speed of 250-300 m/s, shuttle nose don't enough pitch up.

And front landing gear is too much damping.

CSS 1.1.3 and FAR 0.15.1.

Thank you so much for your test report. I have noticed that the landing gear is way too strong. its on my to do list. I will try to do it tonight. just some cfg edits. as for the nose being heavy I can also make a separate update just for that and upload it to the front page for people to try out. I can make the wing control surfaces stronger or move some weight around..

I had to simplify the wheels because of issues with 1.0.2 until I fix the problem.

here I had a play with spice launch systems... (yes I got it working for 1.0.2)

they do look cool and I did a small edit to be the right performance for the shuttle. but as you can see I need to reduce its size...

but for now here are some pictures

Thank you so much for your test report. I have noticed that the landing gear is way too strong. its on my to do list. I will try to do it tonight. just some cfg edits. as for the nose being heavy I can also make a separate update just for that and upload it to the front page for people to try out. I can make the wing control surfaces stronger or move some weight around..

notice also that there is no more silly PINK STRIPE on the ET

also I just need to add nodes for the srb nosecone and some attach points so you don't have to surface attach the boosters

also I fixed that silly EVA issue properly now

The tail fin control surface has two duplicate commands:

"Toggle Airbrake" work properly

and "toggle Air brake" don't work (probably need to delete does not work).

Cargo bay part also has two duplicate commands:

"Open Cargobay Doors" don't work properly

and "Open Doors" works properly.

Edit. Yeah I could cancel them out for now. Ive been trying to get the tail fin to generate drag when open but have been working on other things

I thought the original SRBs had the enormous, ugly, and in accurate NASA logo at the top. Why would he switch out the original boosters?! Those look great!

Yes, "Airbrake" don't generate drag.

This is looking amazing!! The SRBs need to be slightly smaller. Only because one you put on nosecones then they would seem too tall. An inaccurate way of measuring is the tip of the nosecones should be right before the dome begins on the ET. Like this....

GOOD NEWS! I have now sorted out the texture switch!!! now we can all enjoy its many forms!!! and also close to uploading visual enhancements mod. and wheel fix

also I have installed SRB attachment clamps because it would've just been floating there otherwise. and sorted the attach nodes. COM, jettison etc etc

I'm sorry but I have to ask and possibly take advantage of you while your energy and excitement is this high. You are doing great work on the Shuttle. It will wonderful when everything is said and done. However what's the point of having a shuttle without payloads? So........the ISS community pack has atrophied and although it is mainly a parts pack, it just doesn't work right. It throws a whole bunch of null references, the docking ports seem to not be working properly and the solar arrays cause games to crash. I was wondering, since you are working on the shuttle maybe when you are 100% done with it you could take a look at the ISS pack. I'm sure it's a lot of work but seemingly is just some cfg work because the parts are just parts. Then if Dragon fixes the Soyuz and balances it. Real world infrastructure can finally be working in game again. Just a thought....
