Gratitious Re-entry revival

I would like to see Gratitious re-entry added to KSP. It was around for .20ish but then faded away. Now with the stock 1.0 re-entry damage I would like to see it revived. All the mod did was redo the (then current) re-entry heating model (shock effects) so it looked more... Well Gratitious

If someone could revive this mod or point me to a place where it has been revived that would be greatly appreciated!!

I checked it as well. "Uncalled for" reentry? "Free of charge" reentry? Still don't get what OP's talking about.

Maybe, it actually should be "gratitious", maybe it's some urban slang, but I wasn't able to find the definition.

"Gratuitous" in common (American at least) speech means "excessive." "Unwarranted" implies that. It also tends to imply that the excessive unwarranted thing is done for fun or dramatic effect.

I assume "Gratuitous Re-Entry" would be a mod that would make re-entry be crazy with flames and maybe simulated little explosions and whatnot. I don't know, because according to a very quick Google search I conclude it does not exist.

Looks like usual stock reentry effects. I thought you were talking about, I don't know, particle effects or something stupid like nyan cat mod.

Basically all I want to do is have a mod that makes re-entry much for "fruit for the eyes" kind of thing. Bigger and larger flames. Red, oranges and blue hues all flaming around the craft... Basically more awesome. Hence "Gratuitous".

Scott Manley made this video to show the new stock effect when they were added in 0.19. There is no mod in use and the current effect look exactly the same

Oh... I always thought it was a mod.

Ah well- can someone MAKE it a mod that does what I said? More realistic and interesting RE effects?

Have you already turned up the "aerodynamic effects" slider in your graphics options?
