Discreet (not just aircraft anymore) Parts. (Updated 21-06-15)

Recommended Posts

The first batch of parts is now available. They are roughly balanced, and almost fully operational. The only real problem is the lack of colliders in the wings since they cause issues when retracted.

The parts can be found here.

Update: 21-06-15 (UK date system, suck it).

New part added (stacked deployable propeller)

All textures changed to DDS.

Well I've got the animation bit down. I know how to make engines work with FireSpitter already so thats no problem. I need to figure out wings though, and I need to ask Hooligan how the blimp setup works.

cool stuff. subscribed.

I wonder if it works on duna to move cargo (as alternative to land / plane / rocket based means of transport)

Duna has a thin atmosphere. so it wont work for anything particularly heavy, not unless you use REALLY big balloons.

Interesting concepts.

I have some concerns about the retracting fan fuselage - since the fan on one side is axially offset from the fan on the other side, wouldn't that cause a net torque in the fuselage?

So long as the net thrust lines up with the COM of the craft, you can offset engines however you like with no problem. Or at least I've never had issues with such setups.

Update time. So I have figured out how to blimp, how to throw animations into the parts and how to do things in general (although the blimp has a tendency to float way before the deploy animation is finished). The technical side is covered for now.

Now its time to pretty up some things, have a teaser.

Yes, I included some solar panels atop the blimp, inspired by the Nasa design for their Venus airships.
