How does one make a three body system? I have 3 similarly sized planets and I want to know how to make them a 3 body system

three body systems are a bit tricky, it highly depends on what you have in mind.

the options you have are more or less these:

the first two are not possible with SigmaBinary

the third is technically possible, but for bodies with the same size the result would be a little weird

basically, you need to decide which of the three bodies will be the "primary", which the "secondary" and which the "tertiary" (i guess that's the right word)

you need to make sure you add the secondary body first, then the tertiary and last the primary

then you need to make sure both the secondary and the tertiary have the SigmaBinary node

sadly, the weirder your system is, the less likely it is to work properly

some of the GN star systems suffers from this as well

So there is a binary system of 2 similar bodies, and their barycentre is in binary with a larger body? Do I add the binary node to both second and third planets, and tell them to orbit primary? What would happen if i have primary orbit tertiary, secondary orbit primary and tertiary orbit secondary? Thanks for the tips though, really helpful

not exactly, let's say you have 3 bodies:

A orbits the sun

B orbits A

C orbits B

you will need to add the SigmaBinary node to B and C

this will create a binary system between A and B with A as the primary and B as the secondary

then it will create a binary system between B and C, with B as the primary and C as the secondary

so you will have some kind of nested binary system

you need to make sure the bodies are added in order ( A before B before C )

otherwise SB might break

Alright that clears it up immensely.

Sigma Binary v1.5.3

I haven't recieved any errors with OPM and New Horizons installed. Might be some installation problem.

that's because of NewHorizons defines the orbits for all bodies.

OPM defines only the orbits of its planets, and SB was having an issue with bodies without orbits defined

pretty stupid on my part to not realize that :D

but hey, now it's working fine

@Sigma88, is this compatible with 1.1.3 yet? Sorry to pester you if you're working on an update already. :sealed:

haven't had the time to test it yet.

you could try and let me know :D

don't load important saves (obviously)

Well DunaIke doesn't work, and Kopernicus's download for github is 1 update behind, so no planet packs to test the actual mod with.

what?

you can find kopernicus here: https://github.com/Kopernicus/Kopernicus/releases/tag/release-1-1-2

just download the first zip listed under downloads

it's Kopernicus version 1.1.2 for KSP version 1.1.3

I know, but as far as I know, no planet packs have updated, and I'm not putting in a whole crap ton of effort making one right now, so I'll test it with a planet pack that supports this mod (Unless somehow Galactic Neighborhood works in 1.1.3, I guess I'll test that now).
