I wouldn\'t, for privacy concerns. I can\'t parse through the massive text file to locate every single thing, and I am as of yet unsure just how much user information it stored. There could be emails, IP addresses, etc.

Is it not just what had been posted? I can\'t imagine there being any information in the file that wasn\'t already publicly available on the forums when it was up.

No, the backup is a complete compiled database of the entire database that included the memberlist, posted files, configuration, host information, etc. I know this, because during the failed upload when it was incomplete, the memberlist uploaded to the site, and emails, IP\'s, etc where easily visible.

So what was the issue with importing? I assume we\'re talking a MySQL table here; was it just too big to go in one go, or is there some missing data that keeps you from re-creating the proper DB schema?

I know a lot of hosts have scripts locked down so a huge MySQL file will time out in the middle of importing, so you have to run the import in batches (excise the part of the dump where it sets up the tables and then break up the section where it adds rows into chunks that can run it less than a minute or whatever the timeout limit is.

The file was too big to load in one go. I split the file with 7zip and tried to load them to no avail. I\'ve decided to just run it on a new.

Also, I\'m abandoning the TK sites, I\'m annoyed with them. I\'ve opted for a domain from the webhost that shouldn\'t be too intrusive (the domain name, that is. There is no intrusion on the site iteslf).

yeah it wouldn\'t work just using 7Zip, you need to edit the SQL statements in the actual DB 'dump' file.

this may be a lil off topic based on how this thread was going but got a question

just got done reading the hole thread and kept on seeing something called a test from what i gather it to let people roleplay in the forum.... my question is this.. is this test to be able to sign up and read the forum or is it for posting in it

if its for posting and reading id like to ask being i utterly stink at spelling and my grammar is very poor.. would there be away for people who just wants to read.. sign up read and not post
