Spartwo
One syllable. Same as 'lathe,' the shop machine used to turn wood.Pretty much. Found out about both within a few weeks of each other.
moogoob
I pronounce it like the machine you turn two-by-twos into table legs on.EDIT: like many others, it seems. Edited July 22, 2015 by moogoob obvious, really
Vaporo
Lay-thnot Lay-theA lathe is a kind of machine tool. Laythe is a planet. They are pronounced completely differently and nobody can say anything to convince me otherwise.
SAI Peregrinus
Laythe and Lathe have totally different pronunciations. Like Zathras and Zathras
richfiles
I pronounce it as a single syllable. Similar (but not identical) to the word lathe (the wood/metal cutting tool) with a "y" in the middle, and a slightly different "th" at the end, to make it roll off the tongue naturally... As a single syllable.**EDIT**YEAH! Like the post RIGHT after mine! Edited July 22, 2015 by richfiles
Halo_003
One syllable, "laith", like "faith", but with an L and spelled Laythe.
NovaSilisko
CANONICAL PRONUNCIATION: Laith, like faith. One syllable. However, pronouncing it like Lathe with a subtle y sound after the a is also acceptable. Anyone utilizing any two or more syllable variants will be smitten. richfiles
VINDICATION.Now if I could just get someone to officially state that the "s" in "Dres" is silent, so it is pronounced more like "Dray."Considering the term "Dresteroids"... The "s" seems pretty much like it belongs... as an "s". I just pronounce it exactly like it's spelled. Dres, like "Drez". Makes sense with saying "Drez-ter-oids". I'm not sure how many other ways one can actually say that.Although, seeing as how it's a model of Ceres... I could imagine some very creative alternate pronunciations... "Dee-rees" being one, like "See-rees". Edited July 22, 2015 by richfiles
Homusubi
Rhymes with bathe. Although I sometimes use a thorn sound (a 'hard' "th") for no apparent reason.
