Wjolcz
That was amazing. Thanks a ton for organising the first round of BAD-T. It was truly entertaining. Can't wait for the second part of the tournament in which I will (hopefully) take a part.
SuicidalInsanity
That was quite the battle. For the next tourney, will the Jumo (presumably thrust limited to ~50% or so) be allowed? If so, it will be interesting to see if Jets make an appearance this time, and how they'll compare to the top tier prop planes we've just seen. worir4
From what i have seen from the battles, it isn't so much the speed that matters but the planes maneuverability that counts. I guess thrust vectoring engines could help with it.
tetryds
While jet battles are indeed cool you should check out Wanderfound's tournament for those. I think that I will focus on piston monoplanes for the next BAD-T, unless someone else wants to run the other battles, in that cass I could set up the rules etc. Yes maneuverability won, but that was mainly an AI thing, you will notice that the Maelstorm only died when it flew straight. I would actually be interested in building a Juno-powered aircraft, but AJE would probably be needed for those. If the jet battles were held separately from prop planes I would definitely participate in that.
tetryds
So we are not going to use AJE, the new AI does not like to conservate energy. Instead the engines will receive tweaks and will be distributed on a pack dedicated for this challenge, that makes things much simpler to handle. V7 Aerospace
It would be awesome if SQUAD added propeller engines in 1.
tetryds
Setting up modpack for BAD-T v2! This includes and is not limited to Aviator Arsenal 1.1, custom SXT propellers and a FAR update :
Darren9
I haven't even tried the new BD autopilot yet, I noticed there's a few more settings to play with. Do you think it's worth waiting for KSP1.1 or am I being too optimistic thinking it's close?
tetryds
Unless KSP 1.1 comes in a hurry (which is unlikely), we are not going to wait for it. Think about it like this, after this update almost every mod is expected to break, and people will want to play with the new version. While we wait for the mods to update and everyone to have fun with stock KSP, I run the battles Edit: Something worth mentioning is that the next BAD-T version will have a small classificatory step, your airplane will be required to destroy a target in order to classify. This is to make sure the airplanes are on a decent flight condition.

SuicidalInsanity
Excellent, looking forward to the new tourney. I assume it will be using the KerbinSide stuff you commissioned awhile ago? If so, should I put up a link to it so contestants have the arenas for testing?
tetryds
Yes, we are going to use the arenas. If you don't want them to be a surprise, of course!
SuicidalInsanity
The main concern was that contestant aircraft would be able to takeoff from the one arena you specially requested, with the short runways, but surprises are nice. Surprise it is! But, to be fair: Contestants - For tetryds' convenience when setting up battles, it might be a good idea to note in the description of any submitted craft whether or not it can take off in 260 meters or less. tetryds
Okay so engines are pretty much ready, that was faster than I expected. I am only finishing rebalncing explosive cannons since it seems that they do not deal kinetic damage anymore. Then it's put the pack together, release and you will be able to start playing around

tetryds
@winged those are amazing replicas, I haven't ever seen anything like that. I also made some just for demonstration so I didn't go after the real stats nor anything like that. It's awesome to see more replicas that also use FAR and AJE. This tournament, however, is meant to be fun, and the AI does not handle low twr too well so we are going to use some overpowered engines. I wonder what can you do with the ball turret we are about to release.
