Good point, I should change the name.

Building on land became impractical because:

- Folks play on different terrain settings.

- I think terrain scatter is somewhat random and may appear inside the buildings occasionally (?)

It is near the southwest island, maybe 50km from the coast.

I think I am needing significantly more distance from VAB to launchpad!

Does RSS support Kerbal Konstructs? Could be fun to play around with.

It would be best placed in Southern Australia like the real life inspiration :)

Do you still have these old statics lying around? I'd love to make my own bases out of them :)

Yes, but not in a format usable in KSP, only the models and textures.
You would need to export them through Unity. :)

I recommend also to install Wings3D.

Inside you will find directories for [Black_Site] and [Mun_Launch_A].

Black_Site contains the files you are looking for, Mun_Launch_A Contains some static meshes for a Moon base.

Ok I have no idea how to export this. :blush:

Could someone please link me to a good tutorial on how to use the latest version of PartTools?

Well, I haven't exported it just yet...

I did figure it out, but then unity crashed. I had to set up the whole thing all over again. But I'm almost done. I'll post screenshots once I'm done.

Still working on it, perhaps when I'm done I could send you the files and have it be a spinoff or something?

Also, do you know if it's possible to add flagpoles in Kerbal Konstructs? I'd really like to add a flag next to the launchpad.

Like you say, the textures are stretched, but I really like your model :) 

Nice design.

And "Bealekor Kosmocentre" :D 

 

My only advice is to construct everything in Unity, as objects placed with KK will tend to not be positioned exactly the same place when you reload the save - floating point accuracy issue.

Yeah, that's the only problem I've been having...

You see, if I make the object too big/elaborate, Unity throws a fit and crashes when I try to export it. What you saw in the pictures (minus the building I made) had to be exported in three pieces.

Do you have a picture of your Unity hierarchy + What version you are using?

I am putting together SWLS in Unity 5 (5.2 I think?), it is very complex now, but no problems so far.

Each mesh is a child of the root object, each mesh has its own collider module.
