Now I remember! Yes, I moved it there trying to find some flat surface.

When next working in this, I will place the pad on an artificial island at sea instead (avoids issues of people playing on different terrain quality).

Can it be placed near that wonderful southmost three-islands there? Could it even have multiple sites?

Sure thing, just use the Kerbal Konstructs menu. :)

You can have hundreds of copies of the launch site. 

In the future however, I would combine all separate pieces into a single monolith launch site (to avoid floating point placement errors) so it may not always be flexible like this.

Re-doing some of the assets. Based on beautiful Scotland.
The general idea, the large shape is the mid-ocean/lake platform (easier than choosing terrain on Kerbin).
Textures are from bac9's KSC and other misc places. Using pre-made speeds up development a lot.

Old assets
The old assets are now free to use by anyone.

A little shed + prospective layout.
The vegatation area is for misc buildings, the asphalt area will house the VAB and administrative buildings.
The launch pad will be some 100 metres from the edge of the platform, over a bridge.
The radio will be housed on the block house on the far upper corner.

I'm feeling a little swayed on both sides, still need much experimentation to find a style I like.

The old textures were not so good, a lot of stretching and distortion.

The "rustic" textures are being nice for the small buildings, but for larger buildings like the VAB it's not going so well...

Horrible flashbacks to "the barn".

I wouldn't say too needy, those textures are just perhaps not the best fit :) 

These textures are nice, but I don't think the high resolution versions are available. 
What is more, they don't work in all situations.

I think finding a happy medium between both will be better for all persons. Alternate textures are a mighty pain, look at Tantares :wink: 

Some more feedback from others on these styles would be very helpful! Because I am very on the fence.

Think I've got it figured out. Clashing styles like this is no good, but solution will be kind of what you say, just more homogeneous.

From the (very limited) play testing, some kind of dock is needed to gain access from the ocean. That can double as a handy place to launch boats :)

The idea is, split between green and grey for the buildings. So far only shown are the country buildings, but more practical "official" buildings for the asphalt area.
