How to know what type of kerbals I have inside the ship?

I need scientist to go into the research lab. I don't want to eva every single kerbal in my outpost until I get them both correctly.

Is there any way to know what specialist I have inside of the ship without getting it out of it?

There may be an easier way, but you can go to the astronaut complex and look under "assigned". It lists all your kerbs, so if you know which ones are on your outpost you can figure it out.

Go to map view, and click the little crew button on the right hand side. The panel that pops up shows the profession of each Kerbal.

This. It will also show you their experience levels. Definitely the easiest way to tell what kind of Kerbals you've got on a specific ship.

The Astronaut Complex will show the specific log of each Kerbal - handy information if you want to know which activities they've been credited for (and for planning what you may want them to do to level up further). The Astronaut Complex will also show you what kind of Kerbal you will be picking up if you accept their rescue contract.

There's a mod called Portrait Stats that adds little icons to their IVA pictures to tell you what they do, and adds stars to show their level.

By using it, you don't need to switch away to anything to check.

It should be a stock feature for sure. Its one of my mandatory mods now days.
