Note: everything in here is basically abandonware as I do not develop mods anymore. You can use it for your own projects, but please credit me in a readme file.

Silisko Industries has recently gone through an overhaul to its distribution division. All products are now delivered from a warehouse situated in low orbit. If it\'s not there in 90 minutes, it\'s on us.

The old thread was getting too big, so here\'s another.

Most products are provided either direct from us, or through one of our child corporations.

Extract to parts folder like any other mod. Completely self-contained, unlike the old version.

The Silisko Edition is my feeble attempt at rebalancing the game\'s vanilla parts. It modifies the default values, so be warned that it might not be fully compatible with other mod packs, at least in terms of balance.

The balance changes I have done are a matter of opinion. I don\'t like how the engines and decouplers in the vanilla set are extremely heavy, while at the same time, fuel is very dense and the engines very efficient. The end result is it makes staging a less-than-optimal solution, and SSTO is incredibly easy... I have tried my best to remedy this. Testing has shown that a two-stage rocket, three tanks on the lower stage, one on the upper, will reach orbit, while a simple stack of 4 tanks, no changes made other than the lack of a decoupler and second stage engine, cannot.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

[li]Download a fresh copy of KSP[/li]

[li]Install it into a new folder[/li]

[li]Go into the 'Parts' folder[/li]

[li]Delete everything in there, and replace it with the contents of KSP - Silisko Edition.zip[/li]

TO UPDATE KSP OR THIS PACK

  • [li]Upon a KSP update, install it as normal, then install Silisko Edition over it as detailed above[/li]
    [li]To update the pack, delete the contents of the parts folder and re-extract the new file into it[/li]

DO NOT extract this pack over an existing KSP install! Bad things will happen!

A tiny space shuttle! Launches on top of a rocket and then returns horizontally to land on a runway. No landing gear yet, but it can take landing without it.

Launch can be tricky, as the plane likes to destabilize your flight dynamics. It takes some practice, but it\'s perfectly capable of reaching orbit.

To perform a successful reentry, set your periapsis to 30,000m, and when you enter the atmosphere, keep level to the ground until about 30,000 meters, after which, tilt the nose up 10 degrees and turn on SAS. You can turn on SAS earlier if you like, but it makes maneuvering difficult.

Install: Just put the 'plankpod' folder into your parts folder. No mess no fuss.

Kerbal model by prefim, used with permission! I gave the Kerbals eyes, and Jeb a pair of glasses. Also changed their faces to more match ingame ones.

So Nova, will you be developing much more on the addon side of things, like Bace etc? or will you only be concentrating on developing with the Dev team? I\'d love to see more progress with the Bace kit, there\'s some really great stuff in there.

I guess he will be the one to add stock space station parts to the game, be they similar to BACE or not.

However it seems it won\'t be for 0.16, so maybe for 0.17 at best.

I\'m a bit more concerned about it being on me, as most of these products are quite heavy and likely to be coming in at many m/s... I should probably stand far back from the target coordinates, yes?

(Great stuff as always, and I may end up becoming a new Probodyne customer myself in the near future.)

(P.S.: Now that you\'re on the official team, what is to become of the Silisko Edition?)

I have question about this mod. I recently got it and I noticed the engines dont fully shut off when at 0 throttle. Are they suppose to do that?

They are supposed to not shut off, I believe it says something about that in the part descriptions

Very true. If you\'re against it, you can shut off the fuel flow to them, or cheat, and edit the .cfg file.

A little question, I\'m not really familiar with BACE, and can\'t really find a description of it (100 pages of posts is alot to get lost in). What in BACE is just a place-holder, and which works. I\'m assuming the docking modules don\'t work. But what about the unmanned pod, is that supposed to work, such that I can hop in my space station after I deploy it? If so, how does it work. I tried to deploy one, but it just shows up as debris in the tracking station.

First of all, I love BACE, Probodobodyne, and Silisko 1.2. They feel more balanced than the stock parts, and are wonderfully challenging to use.

A few questions:

What is the Silisko Edition 2 Alpha?

Now that NovaSilisko is part of Team Kerbal, is there a chance these will be added to the stock parts, along with the rebalancing?

Nova is on the dev team, and he is saying that bace will have docking in 0.16. Pretty interesting...

Nice try, but its been like that since late in the 0.15 patch production (last week of coding, then the two or so weeks of testing).

Nope. Docking parts? yes. Docking itself? no.

I doubt it. Near the end of the 0.15 update, around the time that they decided to push docking back, Harvester mentioned that docking was '90%' done. This being the case, everyone was fairly sure it would be in 0.16, and I\'ve got the feeling that Nova might have thought that as well (meaning he actually intended said ports to support the docking feature, not EVA\'s). Unfortunately, as the 0.16 update began its development cycle, it became quite clear that docking was nowhere near 90% done, so I\'m going to go ahead and assume that Nova simply never bothered to change that small bit of text.

He wasn\'t on the dev team when he wrote that and he first wrote that when 0.14 was the current version. Things change a lot in software projects you know.
