Astronomy night was something his administration started in 2009. Primarily the event is centered around encouraging young kids to get interested in Astronomy and Space Travel. He might play KSP but it is more likely that Obama administration members in charge of the event in simply recognized Squad as one of the newest educators of space travel, and lets face it, it's one of the best educational media there is for younger kids as well as adults. Not that it shouldn't be considered a great honor, but these invitations are not likely sent by Obama himself, he is a busy man.
