I looked at some forum posts going I jammed loads of stuff into the service bay. So I thought you cloud make a pretty good small powerful(reload bomb:cool:) fuel tank. How much fule could you actually jam into the service bay.

I haven't ever tried to put more than a structural fuselage and some sciencey stuff into my cargo or service bays. I bet you could probably put quite a bit in there, but if it's bombs you're looking to build I recommend simply dropping some full fuel tanks. It'll getcha the same effect.

The bomb thing is a joke. I meant how much stuff can you put in it.

While I don't have the anwser to that question, I have to warn you:

The likelyhood of the Kraken visiting you (P_k) is exponentially proportional to the amount of stuff (n_s) you put in a certain amount of service bays (N):

P_k = 1 - (e^(-n_s) / N)

If you're too cheap to invest in a cockpit...

Haven't tried re-entrys yet, I guess in theory it should work. Maybe... Any volunteers?

Hey ! I've done the same thing to make a special cockpit for a plane challenge ! But I like this way to use these cargo bay system as lander cockpit !

I found that the small ones are pretty safe no matter how much you clip. I have had probe core, small reaction wheel, 6 of the small+ goo container and the atmospheric unit, one life support container the size of the goo container. some small batteries and two units to store science data.

All clipping in all directions, so long stuff is away from the doors you are golden.

Been more careful with the large one after some episodes, however it looks like its more an issue on that is on outside.

It looks like you could have an 2.5 meter stack on the side of the service bay, it don't look like the door clips but it does, might also cause problem then door is open. Its also an issue with stuff above or below.

@Brainlord, how did you rig it for transport? I've found with 2.5m Service bays, anything clipping even the slightest makes the thing behave like it's haunted (twitching like crazy and more often than not breaking the stack). I'd love to see a pic btw.

Not stuffing per-se, but I'd like to cram all science, ISRU and any other bits that would otherwise hang off the sides or clutter up the stack in MKIII bays, and arrange it so it acts like a work area my Kerbals can move about in like so.

Btw, did you guys know that if you put a "s" or "l" at the end of the image ID of a picture hosted on Imgur, it resizes? (above image link is http://i.imgur.com/v0mUGFh.png, but by changing it to http://i.imgur.com/v0mUGFhl.png it sizes it down)

Very carefully! LOL

A small girder segment is snapped to the center of the service bay. Then offset drastically to what becomes the “back†doors. A docking point is placed on the center of the girder. Then offset up just a little. The rover actually hangs from the docking port. It drops slightly when undocked. (the wheels do clip that ramp a little, but that doesn’t seem to matter).

The batteries are used as spacers to the doors do not strike the engines.

EDIT: yes you back it back in to the garage, it docks, and you fly away!

I did this, but it was mostly for looks

I've done something similar, by splitting bays up into purposed smaller sections by using multiple small mk2 cargo bays with a mk2 probe as a "divider(s)", just with out the clipping. As long as you open your bay(s) with action groups it still looks more or less like one bay.

With a seat they will survive. I have done it with out seats. Small one 1 Kerbal and the bigger one 11 Kerbals crammed in. To bad one seems to like to phase through the walls.

Though entirely subjective and arbitrary (pointless really), I feel like there should be some account of total part count at any given time. Treat it like a constant at a single time in the flight. The kraken will attack with or without service bays.
