Has Anyone Else Experienced this?

For the past week or so I've sort of been on a binge; not the kind that leaves you hung over - but a design binge. My vice of choice...Space Planes! It started with a redesign of a Jool 5 craft in order to make it into an SSTO, then I just got all these ideas for other craft and I just couldn't stop building them until I had them all complete. I'm now looking at an entire fleet of craft that I will probably have to use for missions at some point. Am I addicted to this game or just plain crazy? I prefer to think I have an overactive imagination coupled with too much time on my hands and a tool that allows for almost unlimited creativity... Yeah I'll stick to that story (even though my GF is convinced I'm just plain nuts).

Argo-II

The Argo-II is an SSTO capable of completing a Jool 5 mission by using an on-board ISRU to refuel on any planet (or moon) that it lands on. It should be capable of landing on both Tylo and Laythe but has not been tested yet.

Magellan

The Magellan is an SSTO capable of delivering a full orange fuel tank to LKO. It is an interesting design because it utilizes tri-symmetry on a space plane.

Vulture

At this time the Vulture is just an aircraft capable of carrying a total of 6 Kerbals to pretty much anywhere on Kerbin. Great for tourist runs.

StingRay

The StingRay is an unusual design which is capable of delivering a crew of 5 to LKO.

Osiris

The Osiris is a Cargo Shuttle capable of easily transporting an orange tank to LKO.

Sky Raider

The Sky Raider is a work in progress - and another unusual design. Currently it has only been tested in atmospheric flight but is equipped with a passenger module that gives it a total crew capacity of 17. Ultimately this craft will be capable of interplanetary flight.

So now I have yet another fleet of craft that will likely need to be redesigned once the 1.0.5 update is available. Has anyone else experienced this uncontrollable need to just create things?

You should make these downloadable. These are awesome!

I will make all of the craft files available in the spacecraft exchange once I have fixed all of the outstanding issues.

Hahaha! yes, I've experienced this. I built a fleet of rockets with landers and orbiters like this. Just have fun with it. These are cool designs, Particularly the Sky Raider and Stingray.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one. The Sky Raider is definitely one of my favorites, I've been thinking about that design for a while and even tried a few times previously to build it without success - but I'm happy with this result it actually flies great. The StingRay was a monster to develop; it's such a radical design that I had a hard time getting it stable. Even now I can get it to orbit but returning is a bit iffy.

I'm not as good as you for space planes ;D . But I like to tweak my own rockets until they do exactly what I want to. I don't aim to be the most optimized, but I want my ships to do very well and easily what they were meant to do. Then I creat variations of that ship to fit many options

For example, I've build a family of SST rocket launchers : their prupose is to put to LKO nearly anything for a cheap price : Cygnus Recoverable SSTO rockets

As I like space stations, I've tweak my concept until I feel it fits what I want to do, the created variations. Salamander Exploration Space stations

I also created a line of simple 2 seats return vehicles with interplanetary stage from Moho to Eeloo to manage crew rotations.

As I play the game, I refined the ships I use on each mission, until I get what I need. But when I'm hapopy with it, I'm already at Moho and Eeloo :D.

That's the case for my Space stations. Sure I find them well balance and efficient, but all my career's planetary bodies already have prototypes orbiting them. So in the end I don't need them :D

Trust me I know about this feeling. A few years ago when I started I couldnt stop.... now after 2400hrs of game time I have mellowed a bit. But I still load up and create something new.

Just built a new medium lift SSTO for my uses in my space program. And I am debating on spending the weekend working on a return to Duna mission, or finally getting to Dres.

Well I'm certainly glad it's not just me; maybe it's the space planes... I think someone may have to open a space plane addiction center soon :sticktongue:

Testing is complete I have been able to get all of the SSTOs into LKO and back on the ground safely. I've posted most of the craft files in the Spacecraft Exchange HERE it includes flight instructions and hot key descriptions (which are included in the craft file as well).

I'm on one right now ;) I'm currently obsessed with replicas of IRL spacecraft; I've built the Apollo CSM and LEM, the Saturn IB and Saturn V, Gemini, Buran, Soyuz and Kliper...

Yes I've seen lots of members with beautiful fleets of fighter aircraft, rocket replicas and even space planes. Maybe we could have a group therapy session... of course that is if anyone can admit they have a problem!
