23/10/15 Spacecraft friday: The scientist strikes back!

Who are you to decide this, I hear you asking, and here's the answer: No one. I am official in any way, shape, or form. If you're unhappy with my decision, we can work something out. This is just my opinion, since there's no objective way to judge "Quality" of crafts.

If anyone feels that their craft is missed because of any kind of time-zone difference, or any kind of difference in when spacecraft fridays is put up, tell me.

If your craft is really good and was made before, and someone posts in it within that week, then it will be considered. Just to clarify, I am not encouraging necros for the sake of bumping your craft.

I give you, in no particular order,

The week's top spacecraft!

eorin's YF-12A Blackbird

eorin has made a awesome of his favorite plane, the YF-12A Blackbird! You can read about it's history here.

tippingbison's Tantive IV CR90 Corvette

FyoKxqg.png

tippingbision has made a great replica of the Tantive IV corvette from Star Wars. Featuring largely in the amazing beginning of a new hope, this replica does a great job of recreating the classic sci-fi ship.

Cupcake...'s Puff Puff MK2 dropship

qPz87F6.jpg

Another amazing lander from Cupcake..., and this one features gullwing doors, so I couldn't resist putting it in the closest SCF to BTTF day. I didn't test it, but Cupcake...'s reputation speaks for itself on the subject.

FlipNascar's Kestrel VTOL

i12HXkt.jpg

I can confirm that this looks great and flies poorly. Nothing more need be said.

drewscriver's Alaflux Beta modular wing SSTO

My SSTO flying skills are almost non-existent, so there's no way I could fly anything as ambitious as this. Luckily, drewscriver has provided a video so you can see someone who knows how to fly it, do so.

castille7's Sub zero VTOL

This must be a great VTOL, because even I can fly it! It also looks great, with a very clever use of MK2 to 2.5 adapters.

MattJL's SpaceY Saturns

kdfSTcu.png

These replicas (of the Satunr V, The Saturn IB, The Saturn VIII "Nova," The Skylab Saturn V, The Saturn IF, Saturn INT-17, 18, 20, and 21) are a great use of the SpaceY mod. Since I don't have the mod installed, I didn't test them, but they look great.

Alright, that's it, thanks for reading!

Cheers for all the hard work, and of course a big thankyou for the mention! :D(I'd give you more Rep but, sadly I can't.)

Cupcake..

Thanks!

Aw, no mention?

Ah well, there's always next time.

I was thinking of putting your WWII pack in, but since you're still adding craft, I thought I might wait on it.

I need to release more stuff... Anyone care for some inspiration to make me release a new tank tomorrow :D

Example of a huge dump of SPH files still not released:

50% of these crafts are ready I just forget/too lazy to start the thread.... I guess I'm too kerbal.

Anyways good selections. I'm surprised some of these threads I didn't even see but I will surely check em' out!

I recently realized how many craft are in my folder has to do with how quickly it loads in-game, it must take weeks for you. :)

I've noticed most of my crafts have relatively high part counts for low end computers... sorry people :). Occasionally the game takes forever to load the craft/physics especially when I did some live streaming for project phoenix, speed of loading drastically went down. In regards to building most of my stuff, usually one day of around 2 hours of concentrated labor. Then about 2 days of testing, accuracy, and other stuff, and complete. Tank thread is probably my favorite thread I've made even if it's not the most highly recognized comment wise. It what I love to do and something as trivial as that is not going to stop my madness of killing my cpu with high part count crafts :D Now if only I can find myself releasing them more often.... :P

Sign me up for another SCF, Im up for another round with the bbcode.

This was when I started a new save because of lag opening the folder.

Although still not as many as Ghostbuzzer7.

I will sign you up.

Funny, because I got to 209 when I started a new save... And current sandbox is pushing 169.

A nice selection of craft, congratulations to those featured this week.

:)

The reason I have 7 different 1.0.4 installs, every one with has a different goal and a specific mix of mods. Total number of KSP installs since 0.16: around 55. Total number of unique designs ... What I've put on KerbalX is about 10%.

Thanks for putting the thread together this week, MRS!

I was quite stoked to see that you liked the Alaflux Beta enough to include it.

I also suspect that you could get it into orbit if you tried; for the relatively light weight of the orbital module, four rapiers and a nuke are overkill. Worst case you burn off enough LF that you can't completely top off the orbital module.

Now the docking, on the other hand, is a little bit tricky, even with the angled docking ports helping to prevent misalignment. For me, I usually end up eyeballing it in, which required a few takes to get a smooth redock for the video.

Thanks! Sorry I've not been on yesterday, I was away from the computer.

Wow. 55 installs?

I need to make better stuff.

Practice makes perfect. :)

Thanks for doing this for me MRS. I like the title :sticktongue:.

As I said, it looks like I wont be able to do any of these.. Ho hum.

You're welcome! If you're ever able to do one, just say.

Good choice MRS.

(I should really get something noteworthy on the forums sooner or later.)

Thanks!

Thanks for featuring SpaceY Saturns this week - I'm honored to be among so many awesome crafts!

You're welcome, I always try to include a bit of everything, modded, unmodded, crafts from better-known and less well-known builder.

Thanks For posting my craft! Btw im male :)

You are welcome, and I'll edit it.
