No jet wash present

Recommended Posts

Not yet tested with other engines, but the wheesley does not produce any force against other objects. Found by RedshiftOTF and confirmed by me.

The jet blast of the Panther & Juno heat heavy steel plates up until they explode, at 5% thrust. Not realistic and pretty much back to 1.0 levels.

Yeah this is by design.

The reverser is actually quite clever, it is two thrust transforms together, each is rotated by the Unity animation engine by 180 degrees but in opposite directions, so thrust drops off smoothly to zero then climbs again.

But because of this the damage was disabled, so they don't toast everything to each side.

Well, on the bright side you can now use the wheesely and goliath inverted with the reverser on for vtols, with their CoM's downwards, making for excellent stability.

Someone needs to tell Cupcake...

Also, the other jet engines have exhaust damage/jetwash, so maybe the new Juno will be just what you need for a new super compact turbine?

Hmm well, that'd be the new engine heat thing then, the global value is 2000 but it can be changed per-engine in the cfg, or the physics.cfg

Neither of which is any use as that won't be the same on others installs.

The only engine with an overridden heat is the sepratron :/

Best thing to do is drop NathanKell a PM to remind him to revisit engine heat, also try hiding a load of radiators on the build to extract the heat, the non-animated radiators will now actively draw heat from their parent and that parts immediate parent and children, also all the radiators can now get hotter than the hottest part, up to their saturation point.

Yeah, I can confirm that the lack of "jet wash" on the wheesles and the goliath was quite dissapointing... I can understand the three turbojets causing the parts they hit to quickly heat up though. But the lack of jet wash on the two turbofans really makes me sad... They don't need to produce any heat, but the pressure exerted by the exhaust is kind of important for several designs.

I was hoping to make a big airboat using the goliath, and use sets of standard canards to act as the air rudders. But without the jet wash to push against the rudders, the design is completely useless. No jet wash, no real stearing... Cause the exhaust from the goliath, if it produced a force on the canard surfaces, would of been able to push the back end of the airboat around. Now if I want to try doing it, I'll have to "cheat" the controls into working using lots of SAS modules... :(

Thanks for the explanation. It is a shame as I and others made some awesome turboshaft and turbine designs and I felt more would be coming with the new engine parts. Sadly this doesn't look possible with 1.05. Perhaps if the heat was toned down a bit that would help but I don't think jets burning things up add a lot to the game, (apologies to the coders, everything else is awesome!).

I think jet wash ignored the angle of the object it hit so I am not sure if your hovercraft design would work. Perhaps this has changed in 1.05.

LOL, he was wrong again.

I am not a fan of the glowing hot parts. I think you can disable the heat glow.
