"Unknown object": what to do about them?

I've been playing since back in August and I've noticed that there is the occasional "unknown object" in space. Since I'm the only one playing, they have to be my droppings, if you'll forgive the expression. Should I worry about them and, if so, what do I do about them?

They are asteroids you haven't investigated yet. Send ships to visit them or change their trajectories.

In the tracking station you can select and, er, track them. This will reveal that they are indeed asteroids and show their orbital paths.

They spawn at random and, if not tracked, will despawn after a while so there's always a changing supply of them should you wish to visit an asteroid.

Only tracked asteroids become 'real' and persist in the game.

Blow them up. It's the only way.

Or bring them back the the KSC for analysis... after you put the fires out and rebuild it, that is.
