What planet to go to?

Hello there!

I want to go to another planet. As a beginner, what planet is easiest to get to?

Also, it would be great if you could provide me with a ship that would get there.

Send a probe to Duna or Eve. Land and get some science. Do a manned mission later. You can probably use a modified version of your Mun craft. Just remove the command pod and add a lighter probe core.

I'm playing on Sandbox. I really want to send a manned mission, and having a rover would be the best.

Start with the Mun, and work you way out to Minmus, then Duna.

Assuming you can get to Mun and Minmus, Eve is probably the easiest planet to get to. It has a strong gravity field, so you don't need as much delta-v or transfer precision to be able to make orbit. It also has a thick atmosphere, so assuming you have a heatshield you can re-enter and land on parachutes.

Duna usually needs some rocket assist to land safely, and has Ike orbiting which can throw off your approach if you are not careful.

Avoid Eve for two reasons:
1) Long wait for transfer window
2) Very hard to come back

Duna is the usual choice for first interplanetary.

Is that what you meant to say? Eve windows occur more frequently than Duna windows.

I'd recommend Ike for a first career interplanetary expedition.
It's easy to reach and doesn't take a lot of DV to land on and has a good science multiplier.

Duna. Easy to land (IMO, just use a combo of rockets and parachutes), good science if you return, and a cool Mars analogue.

I didn't think returning was planned - usually you want to send a probe lander or two before trying for a return mission. If you want to return, Ike is somewhat easier than Duna. Gilly is a good idea as well if you are confident with rendezvous - the gravity is almost nil so you can land and take off using RCS thrusters.

The easiest one is the Sun, of course. You can go there whenever you like given enough dV.

I disagree about Eve. The aerocapture/breaking is something that even experienced players have trouble with, so it shouldn't be a place for beginers.

If you have enough delta-v, Jool is the easiest to hit due to its extreme SoI size and low sun-relative velocity.

Dres is further than Duna, is inclined by 5° and have no atmosphere for aerocapture/aerobreaking. Even the Jool system is a friendlier place, despite being further than Dres.

Dres has lowGees, so retroburns are cheap. Not to mention that the gravity makes for other interesting crafts.

But starting from day 1, the Duna window arrives much much earlier than the Eve window.

Anyway, I think he should go to Duna.... Getting to Eve may be just as easy... the landing on Eve may be easier due to the thicker atmosphere making parachutes alone sufficient for a soft landing... but especially in 1.05, the reentry to eve can be deadly if you don't adequately design for it.

As officially sanctioned Dres Supporter (R), I have to disagree - respectfully, but forcefully! The views are increadible, watching the solar system from high up in the inclined Dres orbit! :)
Of course, getting there requires some work, but that only makes it so much more rewarding.

On a reply to the OP, try to get to Duna and Ike first (even before going to Dres). It requires the least delta-v, has almost no inclination difference, and it feels like doing a Mars mission, which is rewarding in itself vis-a-vis real life.

Wut ? Tylo isn't a bullie, it's your best friend in the Jool system. You can use it for gravity assist and get captured in the Jool system for free, go to any moon you want, and kick you back to Kerbin.

Why not go to all the planets, you'll have plenty of time while they are enroute to launch multiple missions.
