Submarine ballast

I'm working on a cool looking, relatively small submarine, the only problem is that it floats, despite being made of 99% full fuel tanks. I was just looking for tips on how to make working submarines, you know, ballast and all that, without having downward facing engines.

Ore tanks of the same size are a lot heavier. Just don't forget to fill them before launch.

If you have several ore tanks along the length of the submarine, if you don't fill them to the absolute max, you can move ore between them to trim the sub's attitude once you are underwater.

wait and see what @RoverDude comes up with. He's already teased a mini sub so there must be something he added to get it to submerge properly. It could be a module you can apply to other parts as well

I do a few things.  Add a tweakable lead resource to weigh stuff down (so you can at least get in the ballpark), then add a ballast tank that takes in or expels water, which gives you fine control (and if you put a tank at each end, it makes balancing a breeze).

Cargo bays do something similar.  My sub uses 3 that start very partially open.  As soon as you close them it submerges.

I figured it was something along these lines, similar to the setup you had for your balloons - which were great by the way I had a lot of fun with the blimp!
