What's the 1.1 update plans?

Nothing. Until we know that all of our mods are stable on 1.1, we stay on 1.05. People can start their own personal saves, of course, but any RSP projects should be in 1.05.

@ZooNamedGames - I propose that we make sure to schedule the launch after the one on Sunday after mods are stable, because it should fix a bunch of the problems that we've been experiencing.

Mods are as stable as they will be in 1.0.5. Besides I don't want to delay this any longer.

I'm not proposing to delay this launch.  I'm proposing the launch after, which hasn't even been planned yet.

I think we will have to see how quickly mods get stable and how quickly we can schedule a new launch but if I think that keeping a perfectly functional 1.0.5 save around while test the viability of 1.1 is reasonable.

The 24th, 4pm EDT (20:00 UTC). This Sunday.

I actually can't make that, I have a thing out of town. But it seems like y'all have had enough bad luck getting this planned, so go on without me

I'll cheer you on in spirit

I'm back.

Computer issues as well as a personal reasons made me drop KSP and the forums for a while.

I saw 1.1 was out so I decided to get back to KSP.

I don't have a mic anymore though (and exams coming up) so I'm afraid I won't be able to continue my role in RSP (not going to change much from your side since I never really showed up in the first place I guess).

Edit: Forgot to say sorry for the inconvenience I could have caused

You need to know algebra and such. Depends on your role, if your booster then a basic understanding of chemistry, astrophysics and such will be essential.

In short, you need to know how to calculate for launch vehicle DVs, launch angle blah blah blah. At least 12th grade or first year of college skill levels, unless your a prodigy.

I don't want to sound agist, if you can do the math feel free to join. It's simply what you'll need. I don't care how old you are, or your education. I just want YOUR best :) .

Im in seventh grade, but i can do the math.  If there are still posts, can I participate?  If I can, where?

If you need a mic (or headset) try going with Razers (I like the Kraken ones), I got mine for around $60 and they are amazing.

On-topic, anyone need me to make anything? Otherwise I'll just putter around in Kerbin-Mun-Minmus system in 3x rescale. :D

We could use a LV for the upcoming trans-lunar flight.

Ok, how massive is the payload?

make something that can take 140,000 kg to LEO, and at least 47,000 kg to TLI. You can not use hypergolic fuel, unless you clear the fuel mixture for that stage with me- too dangerous if something goes wrong. Do not use the Soviet Engines pack.

No more that 5 engines per stage, to keep the failure chances low. In fact, the less engines you can use, the better. Same with staging, but it should not be a SSTO.

No cross feed between tanks and boosters, if any, for realism. This is now a requirement for any LVs.

Try to keep partcount low, if possible.

If you need more specs, hit me with a PM.

How'd you figure out the mass of the payload to LEO and TLI? And what's wrong with hyperbolic propellants on an unmanned launch?

140t!  And kerb-rated!  Well, there's no guarantees, but I'll try to whip something up.

Using part mods ?

If yes, then a large 7.5m SpaceY hydrolox powered core with 4 5m kerolox boosters strapped to it (essentially a SLS-Pyrios inspired design) has given me a stage-and-a-half-to-orbit  with a payload capacity up to 180t.

I don't use RO as it is (with the configs) but you should be able to get to 140t with a similar design. Mind the G-forces though, the relatively light core and powerful boosters give strong accelerations before flameout.

Pics on demand.

EDIT:

@ZooNamedGames, while I most likely will not be able to be part of the actual missions, I will try to remain around if someone is needed for some misc work.

I'll probably just go for procedural tanks and loads of RD-180s so I can have engine out to orbit.
