Your favorite space-related documentaries?

Yesterday I had the idea to play documentaries on youtube instead of smoothing classical music while playing KSP. Dunno why it took that long - I played the game periodically during the ages, but I had to realize I didn't see one besides some Apollo and Challenger pieces that were on TV when I was a kid.

So I rewatched this two (~1 hour ones from Nasa), and it was pretty cool. I started to look for others. Found one about Curiosity, that was exhilarting too. Though most I find suffers from shortcomings. There seem to be too many shallow, dated (not in a good way), short, etc shows out there. And I'm always one click away from the pieces about conspiracies, aliens, supreme masters, aliens, Nasa's evil plans and aliens.

So I'm turning to the experts - what space exploration themed shows are the most worthy to watch?

(the show being on Youtube is a plus, but not a requirement)

The Moon hoax mockumentary, can't remember its name though. Found its name: Dark Side of the Moon.

Basically it says that the Moon landings were fake with actual testimonies from real NASA people, but in the end, it tells you that the interviews were manipulated and that the documentary itself is fake. It just shows you how you can manipulate actual facts and data to make people believe what you want.

I was a news editor for a year. Left the place for my conscience started to melt. Guess I'll skip that one. ^_^

Wonder if the makers of it were the one who started this belief... I meet too many people who's convinced we've never been to the Moon. Guess they didn't wait for the end and ran to tell about the conspiracy to other people..

Evacuate Earth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPWcfMV3rQI

That's a pretty good one, although the quality isn't the best of the best, Say goodbye to 1080p watching this, and say hello to 720p!

No problem, grew up in the VHS era. And I didn't plan to actually -watch- it, just to listen while I play.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming!

It's a mockumentary: it doesn't actually say that the Moon landing are fake, it makes you believe it while watching. But it is completely fake: the Moon landing actually happened and the documentary just shows how people can believe everything they see.

I have other things to do better than watching actual conspiract theory stuff. :P

And the movie is from 2002, so even if some people didn't see it was a mockumentary, there were conspiracy theories before that.

I saw this 'mockumentary' some years ago and thought it was brilliant.  Very clever.

When We Left Earth is one of the best space documentaries about space. It's narrated by Gary Sinese(the same dude who played the guy with measeals on Apollo 13. Can't remember his name). It really informs you about the history of space flight. It starts at the Mercury Program and goes all the way up the the ISS.

One for the Apollo program was called Moon Machines. That's also a good documentary which shows all the work behind the Apollo program. Really makes you appreciate it so much more.
