If your mod is hosted on KerbalStuff, you might want to consider rehosting

This sucks and I really appreciate the effort that went into kerbal stuff, but this if probably the exact reason squad doesn't officially endorse it. I'm sure they get a cut of the ad revenue on curse, and as we see here all it takes is one man's change of attitude to take the site offline.

This is very sad to me. I loved KerbalStuff and the layout, and the automatic emails that would send out when a mod you followed was updated. And the automatic CKAN integration. Curse is laid out much more poorly.

As a modder, my CRS mod has literally almost ten times as many downloads on KerbalStuff as it does on Curse. That makes me sad, because I loved seeing how many people were downloading and enjoying my little mods that I share with the community.

One of my habits for the morning was to get to work, and then pull up Kerbal Stuff and peruse it for 5 minutes:  it always made my work morning more manageable for the five minutes of my time I spent on it, and if I could have (or give) a dollar for every download I did on KS.....

I always disliked curse.

Github is going to be my choice of download (provided modders use is regularly, which most of them do).  Curse will be used only when all other options are nil.

RIP Kerbal Stuff....I am saddened by my loss of this fun website. And to the author/creator of Kerbal Stuff, thank you so much for time and patience.

Haven't posted on the forum in ages, but I think this warrants a comment. KerbalStuff will indeed be missed, and I hope this thread serves as an admittedly late replacement for the huge lack of thanks for such a reliable and useful site.

Thanks to you, SirCmpwn!

Myself and a few others are currently downloading the entire KerbalStuff library (all 61.5 GB). I'll probably see about trying to contact mod authors and assist in figuring out if and where the mods can be re-hosted. The mod authors I can't contact, I'll likely consider uploading the mods with their names pasted everywhere.

http://spacedock.info/ is a new potential host, we'll see how it works out.

Is it alright if I ask the moderators to sticky this so all mod devs can see this?

As long as you rephrase it to something along the lines of

"If your mod is hosted on KerbalStuff, might want to consider rehosting"

since there is no need to do anything especially without an adequate alternative which provides similar levels of convenience and features for the modders as kerbalstuff did.

Does it include the change logs? because I used Kerbalstuff to list all changes I made in KSPI, which is a lot.

Well damn, there goes one of the better hosting places and a good place to look at for updates.

There's a group of people working to get another hosting site up. In the process of downloading the entire library of KerbalStuff.

I don't know at this point. I've only got 9% of the entire library atm.

Looked at the file list, seems I'm getting older versions of mods as well. Still no idea if the changelogs are included.

Vanilla kerbal= excrements, curse = excrements

Looks like no more ksp for me, It's really depressing to see things like this happening. 180 USD/month could keep the site alive but squad decide to endorse curse and their ad revenue instead.

Ads? On KSP's Curse page? Let me look. Let's start by following the link Get Mods! at the top of this page...

Nope, no ads here. Maybe if I actually select a mod. Will I see ads?

Nope, no ads here either. Must be when I download the mod then?

AAAAGH! THE HORROR! GET IT OFF ME! GET OFF! Oh, wait, it's just a regular download dialog.

So, where are these horrible ads that you speak off? Surely you can find them by going directly to curse.com, but why would you? Unless you want to see them? But why complain about them then?

So how do we figure out the download counts on the mods?

Would say not "the better" but "the best" - do dammn sad. Guess Squads ignorance and their idea of sticking with curse additional to the unclear delay of 1.1 moves KSP sadly from its living into its dying timeframe of existence.

Agreed.  Curseforge is the way to go :) rather than straight Curse.  The upset over Curse does seem to be as bad as te move to Steam many moons ago but with KS's viable alternative and simplistic way to join we didn't get over it. People should goggle it.

Peace.
