W900 replica attempt

That looks really nice!! I love the use of parts - the Spectro-Variometer for the lights and the control surfaces for the curved hood. The scale also looks spot on. Nice job! The only thing I would suggest is putting a little more work into the sleeper - it looks a little dull and hurried compared to the front half, which is simply gorgeous.

It looks nice, true.

But what I see with this truck is like with all the other trucks that are posted here: one little bump and the wheels are busted. After that a progressive RUD until the thing grinds to a halt.

Some practical use would be nice too.

I've been using it to haul stuff to a mountain base 130km away with loads up to 70t. I also use it to haul boats and other vehicles to my BDarmory playground 30km away (placed there so that i don't accidentally get in range of them while tasting other craft) such as @RixKillian's beautiful higgins boat.

As long as you don't try to say... run over the edge of the runway (which is significantly more than a little bump) at max speed you should be fine. It has plenty of uses when a plane just can't be used.

Guess I have a different standard. Indeed I drove off the runway. That's what I consider the first test. In no time the whole truck was in pieces before me.

One of my heavy trucks completed the Elcano challenge and I had to build a pretty elaborate suspension for it. That means I wanted the thing to drive on it's own, unattended for hours, during my sleep.

To each his own I guess.

Hope you enjoy it guys!

This is awesome! A nice clean build. I think the weaknesses highlighted by @Azimech are to the crafts benefit. The real truck would not survive even a small jump without catastrophic damage! So you have to drive it like the real thing. Nice work!

And if you want to give the wheels a bit more rugged abilities just attach them to ant engines, that is the widely used @Vagani method of creating an artificial but amazing performing suspension.

Since this was never built specifically for you, yes; to each their own.

Amazing truck!

Is it possible, @DrMarlboro that you have kerbal joint reinforcement installed?

I do not. I haven't used it since my FAR days a few updates back. Although, I'm curious why you ask? I was unaware that it had an effected on wheels. If it does I may have to check it out again.

I was actually unaware of this method until seeing your post. I had built leaf springs in the past with docking ports and I-beams but the ant's seem to work far better. I may have started playing with a unimog thing after finding this . But to be honest, since I always knew that it was meant to be a semi and drove like one, I never encountered this problem since I knew I couldn't bomb the edge of the runway, and my days on the elcano challenge (which I sadly never finished due to a corrupt save) I also didn't plan on taking steep elevation changes with anything less than a cautious approach.

This is perfect. Ive been really into American Truck Simulator lately so this is the perfect craft. It's a small truck but it's a classic!

I too have put absurd amounts of time in ATS and it was no doubt the inspiration for this. I can now truck in both games, and in style!

It doesn't have an effect on wheels, but I have heard of it making a difference in whether a craft works or not, even though it's only a plugin type mod.
