KSC Marker

Recommended Posts

Hello KSP community
A very simple suggestion that I haven't seen is to have the KSC marked on the map view. Remote tech did this with a red dot and I think it would be good for this to be a stock feature as it will allow for easier location of the KSC. Possibly a target node that leads to the tracking station. But that is only a suggestion. Further ideas or a mod that does this would be good.

So that's where you come in.

yes, it could be an interesting thing, especially for SSTO, but i think ksp need to integrate a stock waypoint manager, it is very useful and i really would like to see it in the stock game.

Oh yes, way point manager is very good for rovers since it takes a long time to go from A to B and it's common to tip over or fly off the edge of a planet.

Not saying I don't like your idea, but here are some stock solutions:

-Plant a flag at the KSC and label it "Kerbal Space Center."

-Build a very small probe with wheels, drive it off to a corner of the base and rename it "Kerbal Space Center" then just leave it there.

Also as someone else mentioned Waypoint Manager is a very handy mod that allows tracking of mission objectives as well as custom waypoints.

Agreed, having a marker showing on map view and being able to target the KSC would be useful, and a sensible stock feature.

Though, as already suggested, planting a flag or probe is easy enough. Just put it where you won't run over it by accident.   I put mine right next to the one of the buildings.

Agreed, but the runway would be more useful for landing. When I play I always set a flag on both ends of the runway (they are visible on approach) and a rover anywhere on KSC so I can view it from space.

More generally, markers could be added. For example, to target a point for deorbiting when you use the same kind of ship. Planetary surface features may be hard to use on the night side. I usually use the western border of the big crater 90° west of KSC. But I night, I have a very hard time to find it...

One time I did actually set up a flag at the end of the runway. For some reason it moved and I ended up smashing into the SPH.

Yes I add 2 for a long time, and one disappeared after dozens of hours and many landing. Suddenly, one of the two flags wasn't there any more.

Having a lot of flags (among other things) does that. Best bet is an object that is not a flag and not debris, so it doesn't get auto-cleanupped.

I'd support an automatic marker for KSC too, but it would be worth more if the other installations around Kerbin were made more meaningful too *coughmorecivilizationcough*.

An arbitrary waypoint manager would be the most ideal, though, so you could set landing targets without having to land first.
