Blue Origin could fly you to the Moon in 2 years. Wat.

I'd say that timeframe is extremely optimistic.

Overlooking the fact that they don't have the tech to do this yet and almost certainly won't by 2017 when that article claims the test flights (to the moon) will be, commercial passenger flights will need to be profitable. I think everyone in the game is a long way off from making that happen.

And yes, I know, the site does look sketchy.

You're not kidding, I just found the following article title on the same website:

"Mysterious Footage Proves That Aliens Knew About 911 Attack"

Wait, seriously? I didn't look around, just skimmed the article, but seriously, the freedoms the media have are going out of control.

I'd rather have too much freedom in the media than too little. TBH, it takes surprisingly little to start a internet news site.

they're only just getting ready for sub orbital flights, afawk they haven't even began their orbital rocket.

Just to address this point: Blue Origin has been working on their orbital spaceflight ambitions since well before 2012 (source). The company just firmly believes in an "only show something when you have something to show" approach. They don't want to talk endlessly about what they might be doing in the future, they want to put a vehicle on the pad and say "here, this should speak for itself".

Although, for what it's worth, they did briefly talk about the project earlier this year. The booster rocket is supposed to be formally introduced to the public sometime during 2016 (not sure when), and the first flight is projected to happen no earlier than 2020. (So much for that website's claims, huh? ;))

why will it take them two years to get to the Moon... Apollo did it in mere days...\

Seriously, whoever worded the title need to rethink it slightly......

They might be using ION engines, which means that it WOULD take 2 years to get to the Moon.

Unfortunately, by then, any human payload will be long dead, so....:P

I honestly wonder where Blue thinks it's going to get the customers for an Orbital launcher. I mean, at least OrbitalATK plans have DOD support...
