From VAB to game exit: 6 clicks and 2 loading screens

It currently requires 6 clicks and 2 loading screens to exit the game from the VAB. Could this be streamlined a bit without Alt+F4?

Why not just ALT+F4 tho?

One thing that bothers me more is that I can't change controls without going to the main menu.

Because it does not properly autosave the game.

Quick save first?

F5 then Alt+F4

Still faster than the usual way.

"Exit to Windows" should be available in just about every scene except maybe when you are actually flying an active vessel.

It might not be new to 1.1, but it should certainly be fixed.

I think that in the difficulty settings of a save there is a setting that lets you quit to main menu from flight, VAB, SPH, and so on. Never tested it, but it might help having it start enabled.

Why would I want to exit to "Windows", I run a Linux machine here...

On a Mac it is cmd-Q at any time, to quit the program from anywhere. I havent tried KSP on my PC yet, (but will for sure, once my Oculus has arrived). Maybe a shortcut is available there too...
