Some opening can only be seen from third person perspective. In a fight there may be opportunities you cannot see due to your position and field of view. But of course, fictional fights are choreographed to look good, not to make sense.

Very few of the strikes seem to be aimed at the opponent. Most would just miss even if the opponent never moved. Basically, they are swinging their swords at the other guys sword, not body.

There was that other thread with the gametheory video about energy sword vs lightsaber. Turns out lightsaber fighting styles are focused on literally disarming the enemy (as in cutting their limb off) - likely to prevent them from just force grab their saber back if knocked off. Though I have no idea why they don't just try to hit body mass...must be a jedi thing.

I'm fairly sanguine about the fighting effectiveness, myself - both in the SW movies and these fanclips, the creators aren't seasoned weapons practitioners; simply guys that know how to make a decent-looking movie. On that scale, I'd say this one was very well-done.

I really wish I knew what video and editing technology people used to make these lightsaber duels; I'd love to do one of my own - and I know my teacher (who is now well into her 60's, weighs possibly 90 pounds soaking wet and has the seriousness of a 14-year-old) would love to as well. :)

Cheers!
