I play sandbox, of course they'd be able to afford to go to space.

Whether they actually want to is another matter...

For what it's worth, I'd fire them. Like, beneath a Mainsail or a Rhino. Nothing like a true forging of an astronaut to get those frowns out.

And here I thought I was the only one who nearly exclusively played in sandbox mode. So now, when someone on the forum wants to bust my chops for not playing career mode, I'm going to simply tell them "my mentor and KSP superior, @regex plays sandbox..."

Actually, I love watching for the Kerbals who immediately frown when their craft leaves the surface.  Those are the ones that end up flying highly experimental craft that may or may not survive launch and landing... the more they smile, the more I respect them... so at times, stupidity does actually pay off!

Nope, I never fire them - or create roasted Kerbal for dinner. If anything, I'll shuttle them up to a space station orbiting Kerbol... on an e...x...t...e...n...d...e...d mission... if you get what I mean!
