Where did your username come from?

Commander jebidiah.

Came from me originally inputing Jebidiah which had been taken so I added the rank that Jeb holds in all my games. The misspelling of jebidiah was my dad not knowing how it was spelt and as such it is now my username and the only way I know how to spell jebidiah as this spelling is saved to all my devices. Interestingly enough my next door neighbour is called Jed so his nane is easy to remember.

My second choice would of been my username for otheraccounts which is kyle minimax. Originally for Xbox Live it was created by my uncle who owned a race team called minimax motorsport and hence I took that and my first name and merged them together.

At first, I used my real name. Being I started playing the game a few years ago and really didn't get into it as much as I do now (it was the constant crashing), I kinda wish I stuck with it. I went from a paltry 19 hours to 1600 since picking it back up late summer of last year. The ComatoseJedi name is something I've always used in the Star Wars themed games, ranging from Star Wars Galaxies to the now Star Wars TOR. It just sounded, unique. Until I read somewhere that Jedis actually went into comatose states, but they know what's going on around them in this state. Just like me, I may appear to be comatose, but I know what's going on around me (for the most part).

It's not a really interesting story, but I figured what the heck, I'll put in my two cents on why I chose this username.

Honestly, I don't really know. I did intend to name my account after a damned Space Shuttle (which turned out to be a bad idea after it was seen as disrespect for the crew of a certain tragedy), but the name stuck. War Thunder's account-making system added the numbers 20713 to my name in that game, and I've used it everywhere else.

I still feel bad for naming it after the Shuttle that broke up in re-entry.

Short and simple for mine. Anyone familiar with the Ratchet and Clank games? Captain Qwark is the inspiration behind my username. Unfortunately when i was first setting it up on twitch, Qwark was taken - so Qwarkk was born!

Back in 2002 I met this girl who was really into Futurama. The moment she saw me she thought I looked just like Fry from the show. A few months later I told the tale to some friends of mine and my friend Laz refused to call me anything other than Fry from that point forward and it pretty much became my name after that (some people still don't actually know my real name, heh). Naturally it became what I would call myself in some places, but would you believe that in some places that name was already taken. One of these places was a certain online shooter. Frustrated over what to call myself, another friend of mine suggest 'Frybert' as he assumed that's what Fry was short for(not joking about people thinking my name really was Fry). So anyway, one day I was describing said game to my girlfriend at the time and when I mentioned my rank in the game she interrupted, "Wait, you mean you're CORPORAL FRYBERT?" at which point she busted out laughing at the name. From that point forward I used the username just about everywhere. I do have a few other variations on other places from before it became Frybert, but I can't think of too many.

I started out on that online Disney site, the one that came on all DS games. My username there was kenbob2311. I just typed in random letters at the end. Ken is my nickname, btw. And from there, I became a fan of Nerdcubed, and so my username (for a while) was kendallcubed. I registered on the forums as kenbob5588, because kenbob was taken. I evolved into kenbobo because when I registered on Twitch it was my username. I watched some Hack Gravity on KSPTV under that username, and it stuck! I changed my forum username the first time I saw the thread in Kerbal Network.

edit- The Disney thing was called DGamer.

Beowulf Shaeffer, from Larry Niven's Known Space series. A character who's "smart enough to usually get himself out of trouble, but not smart enough to stay out of it in the first place."

Spelled it with two "o"s because there was already a Beowulf registered.

A Nivenite, huh? Then you should recognize my avatar, which fits my username quite well.

You know, I was going to ask about it the other day but I was afraid to derail the subject! I do that, sometimes. I'm doing, it, now.

Mines a funny story actually... And needless to say, I'm asked a lot.

Before I began I'll clear the immediate question, no, I have never played any zoo based games.

My story starts in 2006 innocently enough, when I was in school and I found an interesting MMO called Runescape. I fell in love with it almost immediately, the only issue was, every time I died in the game, instead of working back to get my lost items, I simply quit and made a new account to get the starting gear.

So I cycled through many names until I ran out of original names and just picked two random words and slammed them together, and obviously, those words were Zoo and Named. Why? No clue. But that particular account became successful as instead of quitting and restarting, I worked through every loss and grew. From then on I named most of my online accounts based on the name, hoping and believing in it's success.

Im not superstitious, it's more out of habit and or hope that the name can continue to do well.

As to the last part of my name, that came later, specifically when I came to the KSP forums. That was back in 2014 (as my account clearly says), and at the time I just discovered a funny guy on YouTube that nobody knew about called "Markiplier" and got hooked on the idea of let's plays, and thinking I would later become a LPer, when I joined this community, I added Games to the title. Making me now, ZooNamedGames. Of course I never made successful LP channel (I did make one, but it died prior to all than and under a different name).

  • 3 weeks later...

DMSP comes from the name of my imaginary space program when I was younger. My initials (DM) and then Space Program.

Pretty much stuck since then! It sounds quite good to me. The downside is people tend to mix it up (DSPM, DMPS, DPMS, ect).

I was messing around with this kid's toy, some plastic navy carrier ship. I called it "The SS Choctofliatrio" cause it sounded silly. Since then, it was my username for many things, until it was destroyed when the forums moved. So I rebuilt it. I had the technology. I built it better. Faster. Stronger.

Mine was from the back of a Gameinformer magazine, they had a few "knockoff" video game titles, and me and a friend we're making our first AIM accounts (now I feel old) and he won CircularDotEater in a rock paper scissors match, so I got TodOfWar and I kept using it for everything.

Originally it was just KSP Bros, because I was sharing an account. When I discovered it was against the rules, I kept this as KSP Bro AE, and my partner, @KSP Bros KS, created his own account. We are partners because I accidentally purchased KSP twice, (Squad, if you don't believe me, you can check the account for the e-mail I registered with) and had to give the second one to someone. So, I gave it to my best friend. I couldn't figure out how to actually give it to him, so we share an account on the KSP website. (not Steam.) So, it counts as two people, since it was purchased twice. I would gladly have him make a different account if I could figure out how to send a copy of KSP to him.

But our names' meanings:

KSP Bro AE: Atlysian Empire

@KSP Bros KS: Kerbal Separatists (these initials are actually his initials backward)

We did these names because we are gonna do a war.

When I was younger, I had a pet horseshoe crab. His name was Spike. When I made my first online account, he was 5. As for the extra numbers, when I made an account on another website, spike5 was already taken, and my current username was the first suggestion.

This one's a fun story. So, when I was young(er) and stupid(er), I was really into those browser-based free-to-play MMOs-you know the type. The ones you always see ads for on flash gaming sites.  Anyway, there was one game, Imperium Galactic War, and I thought it was the height of gaming technology. (I didn't know much about gaming then. If you had asked me to install Steam, I would have gone and fetched a kettle.) The game had a random name generator when you made an account, and the name it gave me was "Hobbes Novakoff." I liked "Hobbes," because I was into Calvin and Hobbes at the time, and "Nova" reminded me of "supernova," which is a big explosion, which my nine-year-old brain thought was the absolute apex of coolness.

Long story short, the game shut down, and I was very emotional about it. Later on, I had to enter in a name for something (Not sure what) and I picked Hobbes Novakoff as some sort of big memorial gesture. That became my name, basically. (Or KingHobbes, if the username doesn't allow spaces.)

FIN

I'm not going to say my real name, but I will say that I do have a literal ton of nicknames. I hate being called "Steve." Unless I'm playing Minecraft. I also wrote a song a while ago called "Planet Steve" (don't ask). I don't know where the "Ultimate" part came, but it sounded good in my head.
