Temperature display

Stupid question but i've been away for a while and i seem to remember you used to be able to see temperature of parts? not the F11 heat display but the actual temp of the part moused over? anyone know how to do this or turn this on?

There was an option to enable temp display in the debug menu, but I've not checked if that option is still there in 1.1+

That option's still there, @katateochi.  It's something like "Show thermal values in action dialogs" or somesuch.

I used to run regex's mod (back before F11 was a thing), which toggled the thermal view AND the action dialog info.  It was quite handy.

Sure is, alt=>f12=>physics=>thermo=>show values in context menus

hmm. strange alt f12 doesn't do anything for me bit steam version...

If you're on Linux it's RShift-F12, not sure what it is on OSX.

Steam's default screenshot key is f12, iirc, so that might be interefering?

Doubtful, the aero overlay is an unmodified f12, and it just fires alongside taking a screenshot (regardless of which function you actually wanted).  alt-f12 reads as a different keystroke, so steam doesn't pick it up.  I wonder if it's specifically left-alt + f12 or something.

Used alt F12 yesterday on my Steam version. Brought up the debug menu as expected.

I always use right alt, so unless it's changed since 1.0.5 then any alt key should work
