Adapter for multiple engines. EDIT I'm a Dum Dum

You can place them on upper stages, you just have to strut the two that don't attach.  The big problem with a center node is there is no room for it.

Procedural fairings has a procedural adapter thingy, think it can preserve the central node, can't quite remember. It also has a procedural interstage adapter that might also help with fudging it.

@p1t1o "Thrust Plate" might be the part you are thinking of. Adjustable size and amount of attach nodes in a circular ring at the base(also their position is adjustable the radius away from the center)
