Interplanetary Lifter Design

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I made an interplanetary vehicle based off the Inspiration of the Wayward Spirit in the aerobraking scenario. The problem is that I don't know how to get it into orbit. This is what I have so far:

Wayward Spirit

The craft is heavy, so the SRBs don't provide enough delta-V to get to orbit. Any ideas?

How about posting the craft file for the ship, and maybe somebody will build a launch vehicle for it?

Here. I removed the boosters.

That thing looks right proper rickety and may take a bit of finesse to get into orbit. I approve! :D

I would play around with replacing those SRBs with actual boosters and fuel, and then adding SRBs (those or BACCs) to the outside of those. That way you get the big boost off the pad, have control once up higher, and have a bit more dV to boot.

tl;dr: MOAR BOOSTERS. Sometimes it IS the correct way.

That link is taking me to a login screen rather than a craft file, @Brownhair2

Oops. Think it should work now.

Ok, this is what I have:

Haven't actually tried it yet, so wish me luck. I've been trying to innovate the "MOAR FUEL TANKS" strategy, although I suppose now that you mention it that's just a more roundabout way of saying "MOAR BOOSTERS"

EDIT: It worked! Yay! :D
